Don't delay! Go to the doctor. Better safe than sorry. Not to worry you at all, and not to say that it's anything serious, but I lost a friend to testicular cancer, partly because he didn't get it checked out when he first noticed it.
I'm a serious believer in that it's worth paying to $25 copay to catch something (or nothing) rather than let things get bad. I'm sure it's nothing, but it's also worth your peace of mind!
It's hard to know if it's in the skin or a lymph node from your description. You definitely should have it eyeballed and felt by a professional!
Yes! Go to the doctor. The co-pay will be completely worth the peace of mind.
@doctorgirl- I believe it's a lymph node but that's a guess, and a guess from my sister as well.
what's also strange is that I have broken out under my chin near that ear. I have never broken out there before, I hardly get any blemishes on the face. I wonder if it's somehow linked?
Is it at the bottom of your ear facing the ground or on the back of your ear? If it's the back, do you wear earrings? I used to push the earring backs really close to my ear so it wouldn't fall off and one day I woke up to find a lump on the back of my ear. After looking closely in the mirror I saw something catch the light and discovered that my ear had actually grown (overnight) around the back of my earring! I went to the doctor and he numbed the area, poped it, and removed the back of my earring. I know it's very odd and most likely not what's going on with you, but just thought I'd mention it in case.
Reactive lymph nodes should subside over 10-14 days, so if it's lasting longer than that, they'll definitely want to see you!
LeiAnn- It's below my earlobe, not really near my earrings. But I did just check in case!
Doctorgirl- I know it has at least been 4 weeks, so I'll be giving the doc a call tomorrow, thanks!
I had the exact same issue and (through research on the web) concluded it was a swollen lymph node. It went away about a week or so later. But I would definitely say see a doctor to be sure.
@alissa- I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend.
Just wanted to give ya'll an update. I went to the docs. She said it is an infected cyst making my lymph nodes to swell. Antibotics and a trip to the dermatologist to get it removed is the cure.
Thanks for the update! I'm glad to hear it's going to work out well.
I was abotu to say, Mr.D has had a few random cysts there he had to have removed. I'm glad it was minor and I'm glad you got it checked out :)

Okay so I know this is not a medical website, but maybe you've had this before or know someone who has?
About a month ago I noticed (what I thought at the time) was a small blemish under my ear lobe. The last two weeks I've noticed it has gotten larger. It hasn't grown much more from last week but it's getting a little irritating (doesn't hurt just bothersome). I haven't gone to the docs in hope it would go away. I've read online that it may be just a built up virus I was fighting off?
Anyway, just looking for some advice. I know I should probably go to the docs so they can check it out I just haven't gotten around to it yet! Thanks.
