I know there are some older threads out there but I wanted to start a new one to get some opinions.
My fiance and I are doing a lunch wedding reception/morning ceremony.. Our wedding isnt until April 2015, but I am just trying to wrap my head around some timeline logistics and to plan ahead (you can never be too prepared)!
We have opted to do the day time thing as we just couldn’t bring ourselves to spend over 20k on a wedding alone – sans honeymoon! We are a fun, edgy couple who don’t care for too many traditions and want the day to be about the marriage itself, celebrating with those closest to us and just having fun.. I truly cannot wait to become his wife 🙂
We are getting married at the beautiful Ancaster Mill in Ancaster, ON. Ceremony and reception are at the same location.
We have hired our photographer for 6 hours.. most likely 8am-2pm.
Our ceremony is from 10-1030am and lunch starting at 11:15/11:30am.
My question is for any other early morning brides with a ceremony start time at 10am – what time did you start getting ready?
We do not have a bridal party, we plan to sleep in a hotel about 10-15 mins away from the venue and we are doing a first look approx 5 mins drive from the venue.
I would like my hair and makeup to be done by 8:15am so we can get to the first look site by 8:30.. have approx 30-45ish mins there, be at the venue by 9:15am in the bridal suite to do an last touches and walk down the aisle at 10:00am.
Once the ceremony is done we are taking all of our photos on the grounds (family, friends, etc) our wedding is very small – only 40 people and the only family we will have there is my mom, step dad, FI’s mom and dad, brother and sister. The rest is close friends and co-workers.
We have 10:30-11:15 for photos while a cocktail hour goes on with mimosa’s, sangrias and an open bar for our guests. 11:30am is when lunch starts and we have until 3:30/4pm to clear the venue.
We do not have a DJ, no first dance.. no formal speaches.. Just my “maid of honor” (best friend/witness) and the best man (same thing) for FI doing a small one and then FI and I doing a speach.
I would just like some opinions on what time to wake up, how long for hair and make up and any other suggestions.. once lunch is done (I am assuming around 2:00pm? – it’s a formal seated meal with bread, salad, chicken, steak or seafood and dessert) we then have some time for mingling and celebrating.
We will have a candy bar and cupcakes – no cake or cake cutting. Later on that night we are going to Toronto and going to continue the party and leaving the following Wednesday for our honeymoon.
So if I could get some help with creating a timeline that would be great 🙂
- Wake up time?
- How much time for hair and makeup? (make up artist = best friend and hiring a hair stylist to come to the hotel)
- Need to be ready to leave the hotel by 8:15am
- *drive to first look location – 15 mins*
- 8:30am-9/9:15am – first look
- *drive to venue – 5 mins*
- 10:00am – ceremony
- 10:30am – cocktail hour and photographs
- 11:30am – plated lunch service starts
- Exit venue by 3:30/4pm
