The Lunette has been in my house for the last month, but when I started feeling pangs of rage, I decided to bust that bad boy out and get it ready for its maiden run!
First of all, I bought mine off Amazon, as discussed in a previous post, Mr. 99 decided blue was in fact my color, so the Lunette 2 in Selene blue was on sale with a bottle of the Feel Better wash, so I ordered the set.
Its all packaged very nicely, and has a pretty sturdy box for it to live in the closet with, along with a satin bag for your purse, the pamphlet inside tells you to wash it and boil it for 10 minutes, which I did, and placed it in the bag inside my purse. Since I went cold turkey on tampons, I didn’t want to get caught without some means of dealing. While I was doing all of this, I can admit I was slightly intimidated by its size….and as Mr. 99 saw my face as I held the cup he remarked, “I’ve seen bigger things go in there…you got this Honey.”
A co-worker recommended a YouTube video of a woman showing how the lunette works with a champagne glass…I’m not going to lie….there’s a part with Hawaiian Punch and Olive Oil that had me dying…AND she’s wearing a skirt, so there’s this comical moment with her on the toilet where I keep asking, “What were you THINKING???” Anyway, I recommend checking that out prior, because its a good visual on what you’re about to do.
Anyhow, it would have been preferable for this to all happen in the privacy of my own home, but fate had other ideas….
Insertion was really easy for me, the YouTube Video advised to use the heart fold, and bear down while you push, and before I even knew what happened, that thing was in there good! Its a lot smoother feeling compared to the scrapey sides of a tampon applicator and I can tell you I don’t miss that nasty string hanging down! I’m totally comfortable, aside from the back splitting cramps that herald Aunt Flo’s arrival every month anyway. And I don’t feel the stem at all.
We’ll see how the day goes with it, I also have Pilates tonight, so that’s going to be the real test. But just wanted ladies to know, its worth the jump and not as scary as you might think!
