Thought I’d write up a quick birth story as I loved reading them before my little bundle joined us. Sorry in advance for spelling errors, I’m on my iPhone with babe on my chest.
so we were due Aug 11, or 13 according to the delivery nurse with my paper. I woke up on July 27yh as hubs was going to work at 630am. I had a pretty bad headache and thought ” oh maybe it’s lots of hormones and I’m gonna have a babe today.” I got up had breakfast then went to the bathroom. I was having like egg white cervical mucus ( had a little the night before and googled if it was a sign of labor) I never thought it was my plug as it was thin and clear. Anyways, I was sitting on the toilet and wanted the light on so after I went, I leaned over to reach the light.. And I dribbled fluid and thought, “well that was strange cuz it didn’t feel like I peed..” When I looked in the toilet I could see little white floaties which reminded me of the videos of them eating the luengo so I was pretty sure it was my water but was in denial. So that’s was at 8am, and for the next half hour I kept having small dribbles but no contractions or anything. I texted my husband and said to keep his phone close cuz I thought it was happening but not sure.
My contractions started fast and furious around 9-930, sometime around there. They were 3-4 mins apart so I thought I was doing something wrong cuz that’s not the way it usually starts. I was in a lot of pain so I called my husband and told him to come home at 945. He was home just after 10. I kept saying I wasn’t sure what was going on. We went straight to the hospital after we got organized and checked in at 11. They brought me into a room to wait until someone could check me out which was around 1130. I found the most comfortable position stay in was on all fours, it helped with the pressure. Oh yeah, sitting in the car = hell. K sorry. The nurse came in around 1130-1145 to check me. I was a good” 4cm, very thin and the head was “extremely low” they got me into a birthing room right away where I basically bent over the bed and stayed like that. I then sort of kneeled over the head of the bed. They have me the gas which I hatred, it didn’t do a thing and made me super thirsty. Then they gave me a shot of fentanyl in an iv. I also never noticed a difference with the fentanyl. So, after about an hour ( no joke like an hour) the nurse told me to go pee. It was extremely painful to sit on the toilet from the pressure, she said from the head being so low. As soon as I got off she checked me and I was 10cm! ( 4cm-10cm in an hour) I had a little bit of cervix left so we did some pushes to get rid of it. the dr was suddenly there and it was push time. This was at 1pm. I struggled with the first few pushes cuz I couldn’t tell when I was having a contraction as there was just always so much pressure. It took about 3 contractions to get the hang of pushing and once I did it was good. The dr was great at telling me when to push and when to take a breath. The worst part was when she was fully crowned and had to sit there until the next contraction. but the pain really wasn’t that bad, way less then I thought, the worst was the pressure. So Brooklyn Iris was born at 1:49pm. 2.5 hours after getting to the hospital and less then 50 mins of pushing. She is absolutely perfect. No tearing for me or nothing! She was 6 pounds 11 ounces and 19″ long.
she latched on my breast within minutes of being put on my chest. She’s feeding like a champ, she’s so quiet and content. She woke up every 3 hours to feed last night and then slept for a 5 hour stretch. She hasn’t been fussy at all. i hope we can keep up the good feeding.
honesty it couldn’t have gone better. I did a lot of visualization for the last few weeks, picturing her moving smoothly down the birth canal, I don’t know if that helped. My husband was a great support and was great at encouraging me to breathe steady and through each contraction.
Anyways hope this helps someone, I loved reading birth stories. Feel free to ask anything. Sorry if its scattered everything is kinda crazy.
I’ll add a picture later 🙂
