@SadieBee:  I absolutely love it!  It gives me tons of energy and stabilized my cycles.  I went from super long irregular cycles to a steady 35 day cycle (the norm for me was 48-50 before maca).  It keeps my hormones from getting too out of whack resulting in less period breakouts and freakouts.  It also helps me produce more CM which is probably just my hormones being at happy levels!  The only warning is that you will build up a bit of tolerance over time so I try to take a week long break every couple of months so I’m not taking massive amounts.  Oh, and if you take too much you will feel crazy!  Sweating, heart beating, energetic but not able to focus, so be careful and start with a low dose.  Good luck!

@SadieBee:  I kid you not, I was just at the store picking this up 10 min. ago!!! I’m so happy to see this post on the bee.  Do you also read Nat Krinfoudis’ Blog “fertilise yourself”– she ironically posted on this today. To read it:  http://www.natkringoudis.com.au/

I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m going to give it a go. My hormones are never very balanced and I’m hoping this will help do the trick. But I have also hear to start with a low dose if you don’t want to go coocoo. Slowly build your way to the daily dosage, and I’ve also read to take 1 or 2 breaks from it within the week.

I took maca, I didn’t find that it made a huge difference.

@SadieBee:  Hi, I was considering it before going back to the pill. I have also read wonders. Are you planning to take it in the pill form? I am considering stoppping BC once we get closer and take maca to see how it helps balance my hormones.

@cant.wait.to.be.mrs.d:  Good ro know! My cycles were getting wacky as well. How did you take it? What dosage? Maybe it can be a helpful base line.

@SadieBee:  I took maca and DH took maca, and it did diddly-squat for both of us. It didn’t regulate my cycles, did nothing for my energy, and nothing for my libido. Same with DH – no noticeable effect on his libido or energy. I have seen it work well for others though in my time on the TTC boards.

Has anyone had success with Maca for their partner/DH?  I’m thinking about asking DH to try it.  He used to have a really low sex drive.  Now he can’t ejaculate, but that may be due to his antidepressant.  I’m willing to try anything…

@Macintosh:  my DH takes it occasionally and we always DTD those days :). I’m not sure if its an improvement in drive or if he just has more energy than normal, but its worth a shot!

Edit: DH isn’t experiencing any sexual problems, just taking the maca because it gives you energy and puts you in a productive mood.

@Macintosh:

@SadieBee:

Within DAYS I noticed a difference in hormone levels. I think I have estrogen dominance, so I took it during the first phase of my cycle prior to ovulation and not during the luteal phase– although after reading a lot on it, I hear women take it all the way through their cycle.

I only took 1 pill although my bottle said to take 3 a day. I’m glad I didnt, because I tried to up it to 2 pills during week 2, but I had WAY too much energy. I was up until 3am WIDE AWAKE working away. Last time I did that..

Symtoms: energy increase, I did feel a bit warmer (Im very cold bodied), and I was constantly in the mood– couldnt keep my hands off him.  So Macintosh, I’m sure that macaroot will do WONDERS for boosting you husbands libido.
