Bees- thoughts on registries.. We are definitely going with Pottery Barn for some specific items we want. We’ve found items at both Macys and Bed Bath and Beyond- most but not all items can be found at the both stores. Both stores offer pretty regular discounts or coupons. But if I had to choose 1 of those stores, which would it be? Things to consider- most guests are in MA, RI, CT and NY. Guessing a lot will be purchased online due to travling guests. Which is more user friendly, which has best online features?

@MSbride2Bee: Both! It gives your guests more options.

I did Crate and Barrel and Macys. I tend to like a lot of the linens/towels at Macy’s better than BBB. But, in my experience people love BBB because they can use those 20% coupons. I still say go Macys!

BBB is WAY better. Bigger and better product inventory, more options, their regular price is usually the same price as Macy’s “sale” prices, 20% off coupons, registry easier to use, etc.

- Wedding: September 2013 - Pavilion at Rocky Neck State Park
I registered at BBB and Macy’s. Macy’s is good for china and crystal, but the bulk of my gifts were from BBB. More people like shopping there cause they are a bit more affordable.

Both – I registered at 3 places!

i registered at Macys and Crate & Barrel.
I am not a fan of BBB. But if you want to register there, then you should.
I would do 2 places, but absolutely no more than 3 if you feel the 2 places don’t cover everything.

@mandyhartwell so just for reference, we are getting formal dishes from PB, so we won’t need those from Macy’s. I’m a bit of a linen/towel snob though so I guess Macy’s will have better options.
@mandyhartwell those 20% off coupons are the best! And as much as I love nice things, I also understand a bargain so that’s why I’m torn with BBB. I don’t want guests to feel obligated to spend a ton if they can get it for less.
I just feel like I will add things to 1 registry that can also be bought at the other, then people will buy off both and I’ll end up with a ton of duplicates- yes, I know I can return/exchange, but I want to keep things simple.

We did both but I will admit I don’t really like BBB’s website but wanted a second option for people. So far nobody is buying from BBB though, so who knows.
I say register at multiple places and have about double the gifts as guests so they have plenty of options. I think now a days a lot more people buy online so it’s not always necessary to have several registries so people will have a store close by. Last wedding I went to had only one but they had lots of options.

I think either is fine. I heard BBB has a great return policy and Macy’s has good rewards points if you have one of their credit cards. We’re registered at Macy’s and Target. I shop at Macy’s often and have a Macy’s credit card but I never go to BBB unless it’s to get a wedding registry item for someone.

I did both. I am okay with BBB kitchen section but I am not a fan of anything else in the store (bedding, towels, etc). I did a BBB one because it is the only store in town where many of my guests are coming from. Because of this, most of my shower gifts were from there.
My others were Macys and C&B. I also had a W-S one for my shower.

i registered at both, but our macy’s registry was pretty small. bed bath and beyond is less expensive (the salt & pepper shakers i registered for at bed bath & beyond cost $15 more at macy’s), they always have coupons, and their return policy is awesome. macy’s does have good sales, tho. the dishes i registered for there were buy one, get one free for a few months. i say bed bath and beyond 🙂

Macy’s is way to fancy for us, we’re not unclassy but every time I walk in a Macy’s I get snooted at and the distinct feeling that suddenly every security guard has been alerted to me. It’s just uncomfortable.

BBB is my favorite place. They had everything we wanted. We went to Macy’s looking for China and flatware and they had the same stuff at BBB – you might just have to have them look it up for you. Same as LeCrueset and some higher end cookware. I actually found more stuff I wanted there than at Macy’s.
I also love the 20% off coupons and they were so much easier to deal with. When we were getting married, if they didn’t have it in store (like, china in most stores) they’d ship it for free. And you can use your registry for 2 years after your wedding to return anything – they encouraged me to add anything I bought to it, then buy it from it so I didn’t have to keep receipts.
