- Wedding: November 2015
So here’s my update, seen as I’ve been off the Bee for a little while.
Over the last few weeks my family’s careers have gone crazy (good) :
My dad after being made redundant in November, started his new job in January and is settling in and enjoying his new job.
My mum finally told her boss where to stick it, and got a new job doing something completely new and exciting.
My SO is still waiting for his promotion to be announced. It’s a difficult one, because he is being made a manager above some of his old uni friends, I think upper management are waiting until everyone is back from sabatical.
My brother got a promotion. He’s struggled with finding a job that keeps him interested, so we’re all SO releaved and pleased that he’s working hard there.
Also, I had an interview for my DREAM JOB yesterday and got offered it! So I’m going back tomorrow to go over the details, and I’m going to hand in my notice on Friday (hopefully)! OMG, I’m so excited, I can’t even believe it’s happening.
At home, the plastering has been finished, so we’re waiting for that to dry so we can start decorating.
My parents are up this weekend to help hang some internal doors.
In terms of waiting, SO and I went to our nearest town over the weekend. While mooching about we walked past a jewellery shop, I tried my hardest to ignore it, but HE grabbed my hand! :O
We had a little look in the window and saw a few on sale.
At lunch we were chatting about normal stuff when he said he wanted to check whether the rings were available at the sale price online or not. They were in-store only. So after fighting so hard to not pout and pine (I did a little bit), I went off to the book shop while he went to the jewellery shop.
After about half an hour he came back, by which point I was all over the place. He told me that the diamond was noticably yellow, and that the cut was a bit rubbish. Basically, my SO went in and told the assistant that all of the rings were crap and that he wouldn’t buy anything from a high street jeweller, because the quality of the diamonds are below standard.
Now I know my SO has expensive taste and apparently a keen eye. So he told me that his only option now is to go to the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter in search for the perfect ring.
There was no clue of when this might happen, but it’s so nice for us to have talked about it. I would imagine it’ll be another 3-4 months before he’s saved ‘enough’ (his words)… but then again if I get my new job, I can take over paying more of the bills so he can save more!
I have no idea if that counts as breaking the SUI pact – but if it does, that means I can SUI for the week days but not the weekend lol!
