So my fiance and I are having a 1950’s/1960’s feel to our wedding (think Mad Men). Just thought I would post some of our engagement photos for those that might be thinking of a similar theme…
any ideas about how to make the wedding more vintage are very welcome! 😀

I love that idea! I might suggest a martini bar at your reception. I see all kinds of 60’s inspired dresses out there, I hope you keep the theme up through the dress and bridesmaids and the hair. Your pics are amazing!

I found this website for vintage attire, I’m actually getting a dress from them to wear as we leave the reception.
I hadn’t heard of Mad Men but checking thier site I love the rich colors!
Definitely track down the old car
Maybe try some retro decor…. record players, old china, maybe even vintage luggage (i looove vintage luggage lol)
I like the martini bar idea too

I LOVE Mad Men! I threw a Mad Men cocktail party for Christmas 2 years ago and it was a blast! I included a lot of details, pictures, and ideas in my blog post about it–perhaps some of these will be helpful to you? I wrote about it here: http://www.alwaysorderdessert.com/2009/12/1960s-cocktail-party.html (I write about food and entertaining on my blog)
Some ideas: personalized cocktail napkins and swizzle sticks using a 1960s style font, definitely use vintage fonts for your programs/menus/signs etc. Packs of candy cigarettes as favors or just by the bar, matchbooks. Perhaps a “tiki” style bar, definitely cocktails, retro appetizers like deviled eggs, rumaki, cheeseballs.
Oh and I also created a playlist on Grooveshark with TONS of great 60s tunes. Message or email me and I’ll send you the link to it!

So awesome! The 50s/60s silhouette needs to come back, for sure. Especially those suits…yummy.
By the way you are brave putting those heels on. My roomie wears heels that size and they terrify me!
