Forgive me for not posting pix, Damn we need a backberry app!! They are soo cute. And have feathers and bling. My two favorite things. An earlier post made me fall in love with the look of lace and damask so a quick text to my linen vendor confirmed that I can supplement some of the damask with lace!!!!!!!!

Pix will be here tomorrow, I promose :D

Thanks girlie!! I LOVE them! I wanted cake brooches but the budget doesn't allow so I made these last night. The huge stone is the same that is used in my fascinator.  It will be attached with lace similar to this picture

Hey,Cre...how many tiers is your cake? I have 2 round crystal brooches you are welcome to use if you want. I used them on the bride and groom sashes at the wedding, but are just sitting here gathering dust. Let me know if you'd like to have them.

Hey ladies - first of all, @crebre80: your "adornments" look great!

Second of all (I hope this doesn't make me sound like a Debbie Downer), but the brooches that @smyley posted look to be made of crystals, and crystals contain lead. I honestly don't know anything about the implications of using them on a cake, but I would definitely be cautious, and maybe do a little research about if it is safe to use them on food.

@kirabee: They are crystals, but they are set up higher in the silver setting, and I'm sure will not be in contact with the cake. They'll be attached to either ribbon or the lace as cre demonstrated. We used vinage crystal brooches on my daughter's cake, but they were centered on knotted ribbon surrounding the cake and never touched the icing. Good reminder but I don't think it's a concern.

Ditto smyley... They will be seperated from the cake by ribbon....and lace...
