I fell in love with this dress the second I saw it on a made to measure/knock off site! I went to a salon this past weekend looking for something similar and found, within two minutes of being there! Talk about fate! I learned the real designers name (Maggie Sottero) and I love the way it looks on me! I do not love the price at $1900 BEFORE alterations.
I have found the dress on several sites with varying prices. All the way to below $200! I know it wont be exact, and I am alright with that as long as its a) fixable and b) not blatantly misstitched.
Does anyone have any recommendations? What was your experience with these Chinese knock offs? Im terrified, because of the detail, that itll turn out awful!

I bought my gown from JenJen House (also in China) and my dress is lovely and very well made. I had it custom sized, but it’s at the tailor right now because the train was a lot longer than in the picture. Also, the straps were just a bit too long for my liking. The dress fits my bust, hips & waist perfectly and it looks just like I wanted it to look.
I ordered mine on March 28th and it arrived May 14th. I think it was well worth it!

@sarahgenevieve: I also looked into this option but was scared to try it for my wedding dress! I did get one of my second dresses custom made, and I wasn’t happy with the quality of the material/work. I used to work with tailors in China in a past job, and the quality of the work really depends on the tailor. Before ordering, I would talk to past clients (try Google searching rather than getting referrals directly from the company). Even for China, it seems like a lot of detailing, fabric, and work for just $200 so I would ask about all of the hidden costs (shipping, customs/duties, extra costs if you’re taller or a larger size, timeline, etc.).
Depending on where you live, you can find a local tailor willing to copy the dress for you. It might not be as cheap as from China, but you’ll have much more input, can check on the progress, and you can go in for fittings (save on alteration costs too). Good luck!

I orderd a dress through ebay, wich is made in china, a friend of mine had orderd a dress from him, and she loved it.
So I desided to send him a picture of my dream dress, and asked if he could make it, and he said it would be no problem, I just got sent pictures of it couple a days ago, and I love it !
I was going to try and post the pictures here but I cant get it to work ?

While I didn’t buy my bridal gown from one, all three of my bridesmaids dresses were ordered from lightinthebox.com and they did do the custom measurements. Unfortunately, all three dresses were just a little bit too small (one in the waist, and two in the bust) even though my ladies got their measurements exactly. That said, it will only require a little bit of alterations to fix those issues. I figured I’d share regardless though. 🙂
