yay memorial union! love it.
My cousin was planning on getting married there, but another wedding got the terrace for the ceremony and they will be having their reception there. I gues the procedure for getting the terrace is pretty hard. you have to apply the exact day of your wedding one year or 6 months out otherwise it will be booked. And then if there are more couples than room allows there is a lottery drawing, but someone has to be present at the drawing. I think this is how it went, it sounded pretty intense.
it is a verrrry popular place to get married/have receptions in Madison - particularly if either one or both the groom and bride went to UW.
It is a process to have your wedding at the Memorial Union, especially during the academic year. My fiancee and I tried - he went to the Union 18 months in advance, entered a lottery, and we did not get chosen. It's working out just fine though - our reception is still downtown, and we'll head to the Terrace in between the ceremony and reception for ice cream, beer, and pictures :) Can't wait!
Memorial Union is an amazing place. What a great place for a wedding/reception. Beautiful!

@madtownbride - so jealous! I wish I could get pictures at the terrace, and the Capitol... and some of the campus spots like Bascom, Library Mall, etc. Sigh.
