Oh my gosh, if you're looking for good Italian food, go to Bellin! They're a little on the pricey side, but it's so completely worth it. It's amazing food and a beautiful location.

Oh, and the last time we went was for a birthday, and they gave us a free dessert of our choice. We had the flourless chocolate cake and it was HEAVEN!
@mrsawesome09: Thanks so much! I've heard of that one before so we might have to give it a try!
I see you are getting married this weekend, congrats and good luck! If it's in the area, it sounds like the weather should be nice at least most of the day on Sunday :)
Thanks! I hope the weather does hold out. It's a little hot around here today, hah. Enjoy if you end up at Bellini!. =D
I know this is too late for the birthday, but definitely check out Paisans. It's in a beautiful location and I can't get enough of the porta salad and the garibaldi sandwich. I'm pretty sure I have never had anything else there because I love those both so much!
I know I've missed your birthday - but we just went to Icon on State Street. Everything was delicious! It's a tapas place, so you order a couple options and share.
@BeanPod:Paisans is our favorite pizza place! Love it.
ETA: I love Biaggi's too!
Okay, so maybe not for the birthday but... you HAVE to try Mia Za's. It's on State Street- amazing pasta, very affordable and they have Cheescake Factory Cheesecake ;)
I didn't realize we had so many Madison Bees! Go Badgers! :D
Lol, I was like what the..?? when I saw this on the front page. We ended up going to Porta Bella...it wasn't the greatest :P DH and I will have to try out some of your great suggestions!
Pssssssttt...any of you ladies going to the Taste of Madison? DH and I might head to it....
We go every year, but we will be out of town this year for a wedding. It is a lot of fun though.
My mom's going to be visiting on Sunday, so maybe we'll go... does it get expensive? I'm a poor undergrad, lol, so I'm worried if I go I'll spend too much!
It can be expensive, but we just get things and share instead of getting double of everything. If you get a map they list what each vendor has and how much it costs.

I went to the Taste on Saturday when it was raining, so we wern't there long. But we did get quite a few tasty treats!
My favorite was Caracas Empanadas (whenever we go to the farmers market, we stop by their food truck). They are SO friendly and they have the BEST empanadas I've ever had. In fact, we are going to see if we can hire them for a late night snack at our reception.
Their truck caught fire on Saturday, so they will be out of commission for a while. I hope they are back soon.
@galloway111 - What was your favorite?

Hi Bees,
My birthday is on Wednesday and FI and I are trying to find somewhere to go for dinner. I've been living up here for a year, plus a couple summers (FI for 6 months) and we still haven't tried too many places.
I'm a big Italian fan, and even better if they have cheesecake for dessert :) We've been to the Olive Garden a few times, and while I like it, I'm going for something less chain-y and new (to us). I love seafood fettucine and similar dishes so any suggestions for places to try would be great!
