I bought my dress from Ebay – came new with tags, has the Maggie tag and seems (to me) to be very well built. I wanted the Maggie Phillipa and thought that’s what I bought (although the original seller didn’t tell me it was Phillipa – I thought it looked very close).
I posted my dress earlier and now I just saw Gadfly271’s post of her in her Phillipa. I know she’s wearing a tulle slip under her’s which gives it more oomph, but even the details at the bottom are different. It’s definitely NOT the same dress and my dress is NOT the Phillipa.
Any Maggie “pros” out there that recognize my dress as a different style from Maggie? Or do you think my dress is a fake?
I love my dress regardless, at this point, I’m just curious.
Gadfly271, I hope you don’t mind that I posted your dress (I cropped your head in case you didn’t want me using it).

@milesbella: Hey Milesbella!! The Phillipa gown is BEAUTIFUL!! I am also wearing it for my wedding in June. I have to say. After looking at your dress and comparing it back and fourth, It definitely resembles the Phillia to a T! the only thing that is different and would sway my opinion in thinking that it’s an “actually phillipa” would be the bottom of the dress. A little bit more seperation and if you compare that Phillipa the bottome is a bit more jagedy…Other then that it’s pretty much the same. It looks stunning on you, you can see that the dress you are wearing is built very well(exact same). I think it looks amazing!! Especially getting it on E Bay!! Now that’s a steal!!! 🙂

Thanks – I looked at the tag inside my dress and it says “Maggie Sottero Couture.” The hang tag on it says Style No. J831, ivory light gold, and remark 3FS. I’ve looked all over the web to find a matching style number with one of Maggie’s dresses and have been unable to find it.
At this point, I still love it – I’m just not convinced it really is an authentic Maggie.

They look very similar, the lace is slightly different especially at the bottom of the skirt (as you pointed) and maybe the quantity overall of lace in the dress..But sincerely without comparing the two pictures I wouldn’t be able to tell. You look lovely by the way:)

Most likely it’s a knockoff. They not only replicate the dress but the tags as well, sometimes. So the person you bought it from probably bought it for extremely cheep from one of these places and then sold it to you claiming it’s authentic.
Either way, who cares, it’s gorgeous, and you love it.

@milesbella:Regardless, That dress not only looks INCREDIBLE on you but also looks exact to the Phillipa. It’s beautiful!!! Don’t let it bother you if it’s authentic or not 🙂 no one will know unless you point it out. 🙂

I was a bridal consultant until last month in a store that had Phillipa, and I also had to repair some of the beadwork on it myself, so I’m pretty familiar with it.
The whole picture looks pretty good and convincing, and actually the hem looks fine to me, but I couldn’t tell you for sure unless I saw a closer picture of the actual lace, it does seem like yours is a little farther a part on the appliques. Philllip has a kind of stand up ribbon effect that is woven in.
The style # of the Phillipa is J1091 so that should have been the # on the tag. The label should say Maggie Sottero with Haute Couture under it, and the inside should be neat with lining and no seams showing (alot of fakes don’t have lining).
Like the others said, if this is a fake, it is a very good one… and I’ve seen some horrible ones!
