@k8:  My Maggie is a bit less adorned as the ones you’re looking at (mine is dixie) but I got it for $900. I’m not sure how far you’re willing to travel but if you want to get a good deal and KNOW what dress you want, a place in New Glarus, WI called Brandi’s Bridal offers 10% off if you purchase during your first visit. Not sure what alterations you’ll need but I’m super short and was told that altering the hem was the most expensive part, about $400 (in Wisconsin, not sure of prices in Chicago), however you can order Maggie’s in a “petite” length which is 3 inches shorter than the standard length.

@k8:  Go to Kleinfelds, have that special experience with your mother, and then order your dress through Frew’s Bridal in Alton.  They have an on-line website, and sell Maggie (and several other designers) the least expensive I’ve seen, and they offer promotions, like free shoes and headpiece, that drive the price even lower.  For instance, I tried on a dress this past weekend at my local boutique that would was priced at $1,316.  I found the same dress at bestbridalprices (a division of Frew’s) for $1,226, and received $400 in credit for shoes and headpiece.  And not cheap shoes, either!  They offer Benjamin Adams, and several others.  Customer service was awesome, and right now (haven’t received the dress) I have nothing but good things to say about them.

@k8:  Maggies are much cheaper than that so you should be fine (including alterations which totally depend on the type of dress you end up with).

Not to be a buzz kill, I went into kleinfelds and they didn’t show me any maggies which is what i went in there for… while you are in NY there are wonderful shops in brooklyn that are worth the commute.  Kleinfelds isn’t all that great unless you are spending $15,000.

I definitely don’t think you will go over $3000 with alterations.

@k8:  New Glarus is a just under 3 hours from Chicago, so probably not worth the drive if there are some good deals to be had right in town. I had always loved the look of Maggie’s but figured they were way out of my $1000 limit. I was so happy when I got to try 4 Maggie’s well under my price in the style I wanted.

That show is the weekend of my bacholorette party! I was super bummed when I found out! Have a great time and good luck on your dress hunt!

The maggie dress I want is only $1400.  I have never seen one over 2000… I think you’ll be fine!

I got the Karena Royale and it was 1,100 and worth every penny! Her dresses are so much more stunning in person.

My consultant was fabulouse and asked about my heel hight before we ordered, she ordered me a petite size ( I am 5’5″ ) so I wont need any hem work. That coupled with the corset back only leaves me with one alteration ( the neckline).

All in all the dress will run me 1,300.

The Maggie I’ve got my eye on is $990 at the boutique where I tried it on. It definitely shouldn’t blow your budget, even with alterations.

Maggie dresses really are that pretty in person–sometimes even prettier than they photograph, in my opinion. Also, I’ve noticed that what they look like on the models on the website have absolutely no correlation to what they look like on me.

Be daring and try on styles you think might not work for you just to make sure! The dress I love didn’t interest me in the slightest in the official photo but looks fab when it’s on me. Go figure.

Regarding the Kleinfelds comments, my dress is sold for $1600 on SYTTD and I got it locally for $1200!  The price you pay for the experience!!
