Hmm... that sucks. If you can sell it and rebuy, I say go for it. If not, just think about how much more you can eat at your wedding without worrying about getting a food-baby in a more fitted dress?? :)
Both are gorgeous gowns!!!! I was looking at the ambrosia one for myself.
its tough to say without seeing you in both. What is your wedding style/ venue theme? What is your body frame? Curvy or thin?
I am only 5' and 120lbs, so I am healthy but not tooooo skinny. My chest is C so, that is a little larger than most girls my size. I have healthy curves. My venue is tuscan themed (bell tower courtyard in St. George, UT) and so it will be quite an elegant and princessy type wedding if that makes any sense? So Ambrosia definitely does match that I think!
I am only 5'2 and 100lbs and I am wearing a ballgown. Once it is fitted to you and you have some heels on you won't regret it. You bought the dress for a reason... YOU LOVE IT. I will post my dress and you can see how it looks on me. You may feel like it is too much dress on a tiny person. To each their own! But maybe it will help seeing someone else and make you feel better about your own dress.
Me in my dress (the sales lady is holding it on because it is too big)

@ella86: that dress is beautiful! I do love the ballgown style, as much as I don't want to :). I do remember feeling like a princess when I tried my dress on, like a real bride, you know? Maybe I need to fly out to Colorado where it is being stored and try it on again haha!
Trying it on again will defiantly help you remember why you love it and settle those regret feelings. I actually got the Maggie Bernadette dress and while I love it I kept asking myself if I might have missed out on something. We all go through those feelings so try it on and remember why you love it!
Try it on again. If you still feel this way, try to re-sell it. if it sells, look for another. If not, keep it. I agree though, that once the dress is fitted to your body and you have your heels on and hair and makeup all done up, you are going to look and feel amazing! Any chance we could get a picture of the ddress ON YOU? They are both totally gorgeous, BTW
I think the dress you chose is gorgeous! I've seen it on another bride on WB and loved it. I don't know if this will help you with your dress regret or not, but here is something to consider: Although fit-and-flare and other more fitted styles are beautiful, you can wear those types of dresses to special events for the rest of your life. Your wedding is likely the only opportunity you will ever have to wear a ball gown. :)
Can you find a store that carries it near you? You have to put it back on to make a decision.
It's totally gorgeous! Try to remember there will always be other gorgeous dresses but that doesn't mean yours isn't, too!
@Brielle: Thinking of it that way definitely helps! That is what my fiance keeps telling me, too. He hasn't seen the dress but he knows it is ballgown style and that I am considering the more fitted ones. I showed him pics of fitted ones and he said they look like evening gowns not wedding dresses, and I have to agree on some level.
Unfortunately, it is being stored with my fiance's parents in CO and I live in UT, so I won't be able to try it on until I go out there to have it fitted and altered and such. I am starting to feel better about it though. Thank you ladies!
I think that also once I get a petticoat/crinoline (whatever that means) I will like it more on me. Right now, I just have a pic of me when it is dull and lifeless at the bridal shop. Here is my awkward pic:

You look lovely. I agree some crinolin will make it look more like the picture on the website.
If you still feel iffy, try to pinpoint what you dont like or what you want and perhaps alterations can be made.
Very pretty! I actually think it looks awesome without the crinoline!
@cattydoglover: I think what I want that the dress does not have is a sweetheart neckline. One of my best friend's/bridesmaid's mom is going to be doing my alterations (she used to make wedding dresses for a living) so I asked her if she thought that was possible. She said that it shouldn't be a problem at all! I am excited to see how that turns out. I saw another bee who did the same thing and it looked great.
Do you guys like the sweetheart or the dipped neckline it already has?
I personally think your first dress is prettier, more romantic and feminine then the second. I think you should stick with your original choice :)
@dulxecita: It is a size 8, but I will be having the length shortened on it and most likely having a sweetheart put in as well. I will be selling it but if your wedding is July 7 it would be a little late :)
@Firie: Thank you :)
You look even prettier in it than the dress model in the picture. You have the figure I wish I'd been born with. I'm tall and my calls it a model's figure...which is to say short on boobs...lol. This dress really suits you and I think will be perfect for the theme you spoke of. And your fiance said it sounds more like the kind of wedding dress he is expecting.
I love the neckline just the way it is. I covered part of it to replicate a sweetheart neckline and still really think the neckline just goes with this gown. But of course either would be pretty. I'm just having a hard time seeing how you could improve on it as it is now. It does need petticoats to give it that fuller look perhaps but I'm sure you are doing that. For a bridal store pic with not great lighting you sure look stunning.
@halolover: That was so very nice of you! Thank you! I will definitely need to add peticoats. I am starting to love the neckline the more I look at it, though, so you may be right. It may look better as it is. :)
@nikole.powell.np: Try the dress on with a hoop before you start looking at having it shortened! A hoop will be MUCH less expensive :)
Also, check out this thread; the bee had the neckline altered into a sweetheart neckline, and it came out great! You can probably use it as an inspiration picture when you go to get your alterations done. (Her pictures are at the very end of the thread ... I think comment 29)

Hey bees,
I fell in love with Ambrosia by Maggie Sottero when I tried it on at the bridal shop. It was actually a consignment bridal store, so the dress was BRAND NEW but since it was last year's style, they got it from another bridal store to sell for way cheaper! So I got an amazing deal, I was with my best friend who loved it too, and I don't live in that state so it was kinda my only chance to get a dress WITH her, especially at that price!!!

NOW I am having dress regret..I feel like maybe I should have looked into a more fitted, all lace gown. You know, the ones that make you loko ultra skinny and tall and sexy?! I am 5' so I am thinking maybe that would make me look taller than I am?

How can I get rid of this stupid regret? I am paying for the wedding and everything myself so there is no going back and getting a new dress!
