Hi all, I went dress shopping yesterday, and absolutely fell in love with a dress from Maggie Sotter, Brielle. There is only one problem, it has what looks like a belt that sits low on the hip. With me being short, and having a long torso, it kind of looks funny. So my question to you all is, do you know if Maggie does any customization on her dresses???? I know the store said they could alter it, I would either want to move the belt up, or take it off completely. Any one know what the cost for alterations like that might be????
I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your question, but you might take a look at other related Maggie designs. The Dallas, Parisia, and AD1011 gowns all could be cousins to the Brielle and might save you the trouble of alterations.
I'm pretty sure you can't get a customized dress. I tried to get my Maggie dress in different color variations than they listed on the website and they downright refused. I would suggest talking to a seamstress to find out how much it would cost. If you don't want to use the one at the bridal salon, then take a picture of the dress to another seamstress, tell them what you want done, and see what they say.
Ok I looked at your dress, It has what is called a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic">dropped waist the belt sits on that dropped waist. It is a beautiful dress but the beauty of it is just that. If you are talking about moving that belt up slightly, I am sure it can be done by anyone, that is not a difficult alteration but do you want it up ever so slightly? The other option would be to move it actually down to be at the very bottom of the bodice. I would not suggest you put it at your natural waist-was that what you had in mind? Hope this helps.
