Yay! I was wondering when she'd come out with new gowns. :) I can't wait to see them!
It seems like there's a bit of movement away from mermaid/trumpet gowns as there wasn't as many this time around as last season.
ETA: Lots of lace too! Most of the dresses have a lot going on. I'm all for the drama but I'm not all that impressed this time around. Nothing that makes me want to rush to the store to try something on.
Maggie Sottero isn't a person, though...right? I have never found any reference to a designer named Maggie Sottero. It's just a company...which I think is why Maggie Sottero dresses are sometimes identical to those with other labels. It's a company that buys designers and produces wedding gowns.
First reaction = meh.
I see a bit of Pnina in many of these, and good lord could they try to capture the fast trends anymore? There are very few simple gowns in this collection... TONS of feathers/rosettes/ruffles/embellishment. I'm a little disappointed.
Also, are they serious with this dress?

@KristenGotMarried: But...but...but...it looks JUST like Sunday Rose or Bijou!
;) I'm being snarky.
@KristenGotMarried: I agree definitely MEH. I am glad that there are no dresses that will give me dress regret tho!
it's just a knock off of Sunday Rose.
Way to be original, Maggie.
First reactions were that none of them really grabbed my attention and made me want to check it out in a bigger window .... not really my style. Too much FROOF and heavy on the trends. Disappointing!
Disappointed with this collection. It has a lot of Vera "knock offs" for lack of a better word.
And a lot of the dresses just suffer from "Too Much" syndrome to me! It's like they are pretty dresses, but they couldn't resist throwing more and more crap on them! Especially with such textured bottoms, I'm a major advocate for less on top.
Lots of crumb catchers too, which are not my fave neckline.
Agree with most of you...Not at all impressed. WAY too much going on!!
WOW, there is just SO MUCH going on in all the gowns. What ever happened to classic simplicity?
I'm not very impressed either. Many of these gowns resemble, the "Summer" and "Sabelle" from previous collections. A lot to me just look like older dresses with different belts or pickups in other places. I was really hoping for some options with sleeves or for more timeless stuff, and 95% are sleeveless. I'm surprised after the Royal Wedding there are none insprired by Kates dress. You guys are right on those knock off Sunday Rose design still being overplayed. Too many pickups and frou-frou skirts for me.
Do not like. I'm not generally a fan of Maggie Sottero dresses (I like classic silhouettes, clean lines, and minimal embellishment and MS is the antithesis thereof), but these are almost like MS has parodied itself.
Sorry, I'm a hater. :(
Meh. The whole massive flower things reminds me of the very early 90s. Not feeling it.
@KristenGotMarried: I agree. Hate that dress. I didn't look closer at any of them b/c none grabbed my attenetion. They all seemed blah.
@sailor: You totally called it. I like Maggie Sottero but, everything I am seeing in the new collection is a old gown but with 100x more stuff on it.
this is pretty
This looks familiar

On the whole, not impressed. I feel like when I first started looking at dresses in late 2008 (when I knew an engagement was pending), you could tell a Maggie was a Maggie. The last collection moved towards trendy but kept a Maggie look. Now they just look like generic versions of every other dress. Elsie was nice because it's a different, original kind of neckline. I can see Decadence being popular since it is basically the $24k Pnina that so many people adore. And that's cool, but I agree with a lot of PPs that overall, the entire collection looks like cheaper rip-offs of trendy dresses and as a whole, it's just too over the top and too much trendy in one collection. I see a lot of Pronovias and even some Enzoani styling in these. That's not to say I can't find a few I would like, but I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to find a Maggie store based on this group.
@Klb -- look up Enzoani Cincinnati if you really want to see similar!
@Amaryllis: You are right! That other dress is just one I see here more often. DANG! talk about knock off.
So disappointed!... I'm not really a Maggie fan but I expected much more..
I was also disappointed. However happy because it means I don't have dress regret as I already bought a Maggie.
I totally agree with just too much going on in most of the dresses.
@YSQueen: I think Tabitha is actually a remake of last season's Barcelona
@PuntaCanaBride: The Barcelona has quite a few ruffles in comparison to the Tabitha.
I don't know about you guys but there are about 5 or 6 dresses that I liked, but there was something on it that I feel took away from the dress. There is not a single one that I would consider wearing on my wedding day.
I bought the Fantasia from the Spring 2011 Soterro and Midgley collection -- love it! Clean and classic on top, edgy and different on the bottom. It's all about balance. :)
I bought Loretta for Sottero and Midgely and have been in fear that I might end up with dress regret....fear lifted.
There is soooo much going on with these dresses. What ever happened to simple elegance?
@KristenGotMarried: HA HA Right??? This dress made me do a double take and laugh out loud at work. It makes that thin model look enormous!!
There are only two dresses I would want to try on I think out of the new collection. I love Abilene
http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=A3532
and Antonia
http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=A3551
even though Antonia looks really similar to the Enzoani dress "Fabi".
I totally agree with everyone's posts.... no dress regret! wooo hooo!! I bought the Sottero and Midgely "Gracie" and I absolutely LOVE it!! I had my first dress fitting (finally) last night and I am even more in love with it than the day I bought it!! Months and months ago.
Well, I'm in love with three gowns from this latest collection - Malina, Sarchi & Symphony (which actually looked better in the runway than in the official Maggie pictures). And I know I'll be wearing one of those on my big day. Am just waiting on the samples, so I can try them on and decide.
I found with previous collections, there were plenty of gorgeous dresses but there was always something I wanted to alter with them. I am so happy to have found three gorgeous dresses from this collection, that I wouldn't want to alter at all. So it's a case of being spoilt for choice for me :)
