Hi ladies – I’m new to this site and am looking for some help. My dress is the Karena Royale by Maggie. What type of veil would you with???? (sorry, I can’t get a picture to upload!) My wedding is only 2 months away and my dress won’t be in until 2 weeks before the big day (YIKES!), so any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
I went with the ivory/gold – I’m a redhead with fair skin so the color is perfect. I am very much struggling with the veil decision, including no veil at all, even though I think I really want to wear a veil. I tried on a couple of lace veils and they are just too much. I’m an encore bride, so no blushers for me. And the wedding is VERY small with a dinner reception. The only shop I found to try the dress on (and it wasn’t even the exact dress) did not have a good selection of veils and is far away from where I live. I will most likely end up buying a veil online. I’m petite, only 5’2″ and am wearing my hair down with one side pinned up with a rose.
Thanks so much!

Hey, so I finally figured out how to add pictures! One would have no idea I work on a computer all day long…! 😉

This is my dress too! I love it! What color did you order? I went with ivory lace over light gold, but I’m going to change out the gold sash for an ivory one.
When I tried on the dress they gave me a sheer veil, fingertip length, with sparkly trim that looked really pretty. Very simple. I can send you a picture if you’d like. I will have a hairstyle much like yours, down with flower pinning up one side. I’m back and forth, but leaning toward no veil now.

I’m a Maid/Matron of Honor in a wedding and my friend, like you, chose this exact dress (she’s a redhead with pale skin too).
She went with a cathedral veil that has a lace border, it’s beautiful, and because it’s so long it doesn’t take away from the dress.
She tried on a shorter veil and it didn’t have the same effect..I think if you’re going to do it, do it long, but if not, I think the rose (or multiple, or another floral pin) would look gorgeous. The dress speaks for itself and you definitely don’t want to be too overwhelmed with lace.

Thank you so much, ladies! I love the dress to – it was the first one I tried on!
JenniB – I chose the ivory over gold, but I am doing away with the bow and just having the gold sash (not much of a bow girl). The type of veil you described was actually what I was thinking, but am having a hard time visioning it. Will you please send a picture??
Marlew – thanks for the advice! I would love to go with a long veil, but I worry that it might be too formal. Since our wedding is only 16 guests and the “isle” isn’t very long, I thought it might be more appropriate to have a shorter veil.

This is my dress too! I chose the ivory on ivory. I love it! I’m just getting to the point of looking at veils so if anyone has pics with this dress, I’d love to see them.
I did try on a long, but very simple veil, and I really liked it with the dress, but totally understand about you not wanting to be too formal.

Hi ladies! Those of you who ordered the Karena Royale dress, how tall are you and what length of the dress did you get? The standard or +/- 3 or 5 inches? Also what size heel? I am 5’3″ and want to wear a 1.5″ heel. It was recommended that I get the -3 inches, and they said it may still be a little long. Just wondering any other experiences with the length?! Thanks so much!

I don’t know if I’m much help but, to answer your question – I am 5’2″ and I ordered the standard length. I would have ordered in the petite, but I didn’t have enough time. I am wearing 4.5″ heels because my Fiance is 6’8″. I’m not sure how such high heels will affect any length alterations on the dress.
On a side note, this is the veil I ended up purchasing from the veilshop.com. I am going to the bridal shop on Monday to try on the dress with the veil since my acutal dress doesn’t come in until 2 weeks before the wedding! If the veil works and if I remember to take pictures, I’ll post them.
PS – the girl in the picture is the model.
