i've found THE ONE and now i'm totally stumped as to how accessorize it! my main dilemma is if i'll wear a veil, a headband, or nothing at all. first off...here's the dress...

and here it is on me in the "light gold" color option...

we're having a vegas wedding and i think the slit up the thigh SCREAMS vegas! i love it!
i already know i don't want a long veil at all. i like birdcages, but i'm unsure if they would look right with my dress. my consultant put the ribbon style headband on me once i had on my dress and my mom and i both really liked that.
i'm planning on wearing my hair like this :

this is my bestie and i at dinner before her bachelorette party (i'm on the left, btw) :-)
anyways, the fingerwave style is something that my hair does naturally if i let it air dry. just by putting a little product in it and i can control how tight or loose the waves are.
this is what it would look like with looser waves...

any and all honest opinions wanted please :-) i'd also love to hear thoughts on jewelry and shoes. because of the slit up the thigh, my shoes are going to be extremely visable and will need to be super awesome!
Are you getting it in the light gold? It looks fabulous on you! What a gorgeous dress!
I like your hair exactly as you have it with the headband. I can't see any kind of veil or anything else with that dress. I think you look perfect exactly as you are.
I love your old Hollywood glam style, you definitely rock it so well! How about a pretty hairpin to add to the look?
Sort of like this

@smyley yup...i loved the light gold, too!
@TheBrideConcierge oooh i love that second hair pin so much i just may order it even if i don't wear it on the big day!
thanks, ladies!
Wow it looks GREAT on you! Hot! I think a really awesome sparkly hairpiece--pin, flower, fascinator, or headband would be the icing on the cake with this dress.
If you nix hair things, I think you could go with big chandelier earrings.
But, if you go with a hair thing, I think you could rock a big sparkly bangle style thick bracelet on your arm. I don't know that "delicate" things go with this dress!
Ha! I was so excited at how great you look I forgot about accessories and shoes!
I agree...a gorgeous sparkly cuff bracelet would be perfect.
Want colored shoes?
i'm not sure that i'd want colored shoes since they'd pretty much be visable at all times. i like color on brides where it's sort of a "peek-a-boo", now ya see it, now ya don't sort of thing. i was thinking of anything from a silky light gold to match my dress, to a metalic gold or bronze.
What about something like these? (I'm having a hard time picturing them with the dress, but it seems like either could be cute).
I love the idea of a beautiful hair comb with that dress, something totally sparkly and jeweled.
1 - I LOVE your tattoo and your dress compliments it aMAZingly well
2 - I never thought I'd vote against a birdcage veil option, but I think it would detract from the dress. I've seen a lot of headbands with mini-veil attached to them (my hair is similar length to yours and I'm bound and determined to find a chin length birdcage that does NOT attach via a comb that won't stay in my hair) if you REALLY want to go the veil route, but your sparkly headband looks amazing
3 - I also really liked the vintage hair clips that were posted up in the thread, they would match your dress well
4 - you HAVE to wear open toed pumps with this. too sexy!!!!
i say a sexy bracelet and my fav jewellery site this week is http://www.whiteaisle.com/jewelrycategories.htm and they home some sexy jewelled headbands and combs
btw, i think you look better in the dress than the model pic - fab dress!
I think a great hair clip or comb would be enough!! but so many options would work with this!!
let us know what you decide :)
and by the way...YOU LOOK HOT!!
i love the dress - it's hot on you! :)
i'd say peep toe shoes in a matching color - check out nina's (macys, zappos)
i like the ribbon headband on you but if you're not feeling that, sparkly slightly vintage combs would be great.
if you want a veil, definitely a birdcage or fascinator type piece rather than a regular full on veil.
Damn that dress look stunning on you. And love the hair. I would do vintage haircombs with lots of sparkle and a great matching bracelets or a few think bracelets.
For shoes, keep it simple, don't take away from the dress or your hair. Matching peeptoes would look great. Maybe add a vintage rhinestone shoe clip. Check out Nordstroms or DSW.
I agree with the others, a vintage hair comb/clip, you look stunning in the dress!
Bella.. that dress was MADE for you. Your hair will be fantastic with the style. I also just want to say that I think your tattoo looks great with the oneshoulder cut (and I am not really a tattoo person lol).
I say stay away from the birdcage.. they are super trendy right now and I'm not sure if it will totally go with the style of the dress
i'd like to add a vote for no veil and a sparkly, vintage-y comb on one side. I have a similar hairstyle (when I'm lucky it does that) and that is what seems to work well with my hair too.
I like birdcages, but not for that dress.
I would go headband/fascinator or comb/fascinator... You are so lucky to have a natural finger wave! I worked really hard to get the 40's wave for my wedding day. It took an hour and a lot of hairspray.
You are going to have an amazing look!
I vote for a hair clip as well. That dress is so Vavava Voom! I just love it. Wouldn't fit my outdoor setting but I have serious dress envy. And you are rockin' it! I think veils are just too delicate for that dress. And why would you want to cover up your gorgeous curls?
I voted for the birdcage since it's such a retro, movie star dress.
But I think the headband would be great for a reception. :) Best of both worlds ;)
I like it with the headband you have on in the picture. Maybe a veil during the ceremony if you want to be more traditional, and then switch the headband type accessory? I would stay away from a necklace with that unique neckline.
that's the dress i've chosen also. it's gorgeous!! i'm going to wear a blinged up feather hair comb. i tried one on with the dress and it's just right! you've already got the vintage look going on, and the dress is way too sexy for a veil. i think you should go with a vintage hair clip ..

and you're definitely going to want something delicate and strappy on your feet!
congrats!! you're going to be gorgeous!!
@msz.dubb yay for another melanie bride! do you have photos of yourself in it? i'd love to see them! also, what color did you order yours in?
Love that dress!!! I like the way it looks with the hair piece you're wearing in the pictures. Maybe an ivory flower/fascinator or similar headband. I think your hair looks great with the looser waves.
I love your style..I think the sparkly headband is amazing and would look great with your dress! (the neckline and split are so dramatic-love it!) Have you checked out piperlime.com? They have some shoes that I think would work...I am thinking tall heel with a bit of bling, not too much. I think you could keep your jewlery fairly simple and let your dress shine!
I love the way your hair looks in your dress pictures! The headband works perfectly.
I think that the dress would look great without a veil. I like the idea of hair pins, or how about even something with a feather or something in it. (Feather idea comes from las vegas show girl look.) Something like this

(Different color of course, unless you like the blue, but something like that.)
I think that look is very vegas!
and I like smyley shoe idea! I love that shoe! and I like the hairstyle you have with the dress on, or the loose curls. I'm sure whatever you decide it will look stunning.I love it on you.
i agree that a vintage art-deco rhinestone hair clip -- possibly also with blossom or feathers, to make it into a facinator -- would be the way to go. i love your headband, but it almost matches too well, in my book: it's band of sparkle on hip, band of sparkle on chest, band of sparkle in hair... too same-y.
i love the etsy art deco clips, combs, etc, made by OhFaro on Etsy, and i think a side-comb would be perfection with your retro hair look:

or RomancingtheBling on Etsy:
Question about the Melanie ~ was it true to your street size? Is it heavy? I am having a beach vow renewal ceremony, love the dress but don't want to wear something to heavy and hard to walk around outside.
As far as your hair ~ I think your hair would look great swept up on one side with either some sort of a flower or sparkly comb on that side. But make it big enough to show, have seen some cool ones with feathers incorporated into the comb as well!
You look amazing and I think a birdcage veil would look fabulous with this!
Loose fingerwave curls and headband would look great! And wow that dress is hot!
@cher17 i'm a street size 2-4 and the dress is a size 6. it fit perfectly! it's not heavy at all, either...the bodice is constructed really well so that you have a nice, smooth shape, but it's still not heavy, and the skirt is really flowy :-) i wasn't able to find any bridal shops with a sample to try on but it was part of the trunk show, so maybe if there is one in your area it will be there, too! if you find it to try on i would love to see photos! i'm dying to see another REAL bride in my dress!
thank you girls all so much for your input and nice things you've said :-)
I am incredibly jealous of your natural finger waves! I think an art deco style hair clip or fascinator would be perfect.
I too am wearing the Melanie dress.. and LOVE IT! :-). I tried on almost 20 dresses before putting THE dress on, and i just fell in love. I am cutting off the sholder strap and closing the slit though, my own little twist. I am so excited for you and think that your vintage look will be amazing. I will post some pictures on here for you and we can swamp ideas! Again you look so beautiful!
