I’m new to all of this and got engaged to my boyfriend of 6 years only a couple of weeks ago!
We have already started planning and are looking into booking a venue near us for October 2014.
The thing is, my main bridesmaid is my twin sister who lives abroad and is only home for a short period of time in mid/late august. I’ve made an appointment to go dress shopping when she’s home as she only comes home once a year and I’d really like her to be involved.
I made the appointment with a bridalshop near me that stocks Maggie Sottero because I love the Cassidy dress:
The only thing is, the lady has to get a loan dress in as she doesn’t have a sample.
Is it weird of me to get her to get it in specially when we haven’t booked our venue?
Also is it too soon to start dress shopping?
I’m also not sure about if this style of dress is suitable for me! I’m 5’8 and a Uk size 6-8, 24inch waist and 28E chest!
Sorry if thats too much info, like I said I’m really new. xx

I am getting married Oct 2014 and purchased a Maggie dress back in April. I hadn’t booked my venue yet but knew the general area it would be. I am the one that is not home often, and I wanted to go dress shopping with my mom and friends. I didn’t know the next time I would be home, which is why I purchased the dress in April.
I think buying the dress in August is great timing (I was told 7 months for the dress to come in) and I don’t think it is a big deal if you don’t have your venue booked yet.

My first post!
It’s absolutely not too soon to start trying on dresses! I hope if she can bring it in for you that it’s as perfect as you imagine it will be! Don’t worry at all about your venue not being booked, you have lots of time and these things will come!
I found a Maggie dress in a store here I loved, and then bought it online in the correct size for quite a significant cost savings. It’s hanging in my closet tempting me every single day.

Thanks for the replies, I’m really excited to try on dresses.
I hadn’t thought of looking online for the dress, I’m in the UK though so might be slightly more difficult!

@MissC88: I’m in the US, but bought from a reputable dealer, who ships internationally for FREE! I’m happy to share the information, but I think it will need to be completed through PM, as I do not want it to seem that I’m promoting this particular stockist.
