Um, well, I bought my Maggie Sottero for $400 in a bridal store, so $700 doesn't seem like a far stretch to me.
"typically start around $1100"...I think you're mistaken. I looked at LOTS of Maggies around the $600 range and never even touched one above $1,000
hmmm I think i must be looking at the wrong salons! LOL. I'm seriously considering Margot ($1340), Aurelie ($1425) and Jovi ($1150)... I dunno though because I've price compared at 4 different salons in my area (Pittsburgh) and they all fall within that range?
I got my Maggie off of Ebay and it was every bit authentic. So beautiful. I want to wear it now :)
Well, those may be a few of her more expensive ones...Aurelie is built like the Mona Lisa Royale or whatever, and a friend of mine paid like $1500 for that.
Try some of her other line, or at the very least, maybe call the salon and be like, "hi there. I got a quote from X bridal salon (pick one in another state and say it's near your mom lol) and ask if they'll price match it or something.
She does have plenty of dresses in a more affordable range. I wore Irina, which looks kinda pathetic on the website, and my friend wore the Allison Marie and she paid about $600 for it. Another friend wore for about $600 too (i don't know which one).
I tried on a few that were like $800 though. Keep in mind, too, that you might get a discount. My dress was originally 35% more but I asked for the discount and got it.
Mine was a maggie and I got it on clearance for $500
So 7 doesn't seem bad.
One of the Maggies I love was like 6 or 700 in the salon I got mine from. The Perla. Man, I love that dress!!!!! It just didn't feel very wedding-ish.
Look around at other salons if you can. I wore the Aurelie and it came to $1212 after tax. You can also go during a trunk show and usually get 10% off your order. I got Aurelie in Orange County, CA and there were other salons in the area that quoted $1450ish for it. I ended up finding it at the salon I wanted to get it at from the beginning for $1250 and then got 10% off for the trunk show.
I would be wary of buying it through ebay or anywhere online just because you cant see it in person before you order it. If you do this, make sure there is a return policy that you are ok with just in case. You can definitely find Maggie Sotterro styles that fit your budget.
I bought my Maggie (Milana) for just under $900 including tax. So, I think she has a nice variety of prices, depending on what you're looking for.
Maybe price comparison at salons, then see what the ebay vendor is selling for to see if it's really a deal? And it will help you figure out your size too - in trying on Maggie's I realized that although my measurements came in at a 12, I needed to order a 10 (and still need to take it in a bit).
If they are from older seasons or simpler dresses that seems reasonable. I bought my Maggie Grace dress brand new for about $760 a few months ago.
I agree with above poster though and recommend getting sized for one at a store. I normally wear a 6 or medium and since the dresses I was trying on at the store were all 10's and fit me (they were corset backs so flexible), that was the size I was planning to buy if I went the used route. I decided to just buy it new since there was a sale, and when I got officially sized according to Maggie charts I should buy a 4.
i bought my beautiful maggie sottero gown (edwina marie) off ebay for $400. totally worth it!

So theres a seller on ebay (name is 09ksdesigns) who has a bunch of maggie sotterro gowns for sale in their online store for extreamly cheap. They are garunteed to be authentic and even come with a certificate of authenticity. Brand new with the tags and she has multiple styles in different sizes and colors. All her feedback is positive with comments like "thanks for the gown its great and saved me so much money" "authentic and a great price" "item as described" etc.
I know better than to order a knock off gown from a site like topbridaldresses or juliusbridal (being that those are blatent knock offs made cheaply in China), but do you think this is ok? How on Earth can she be selling these gowns for $700 when in bridal salons they typically start around $1100
She does have a 7 day money back garuntee and if you pay with paypal you alre always able to dispute a charge and get your money back... so it may be worth trying but I want some opinons from the hive!
