I personally am not a fan of having the MOH in a different color dress.  To me, it is very visually distracting in the wedding pics and in person. I believe the MOH has a special position simply because of the fact that she stands next to the bride, showing her closer relationship with the bride. I do not think she needs to stand out visually in any other way, especially not by wearing a different color that will draw all attention to her.  However, that is just my opinion.

This is totally personal preference, but I’m with Brielle.  I think if you want your MOH to stand out, there are more subtle ways to do it, like having her bouquet slightly larger than the other girls’.  Or even having her in a different shade of green than the other BMs.  I am just not personally a fan of the stark contrast between one girl in a completely different color from the others.

I love the MOH slightly diff. look, which is why I did it! 🙂 And I had the best man match the MOH.  So, he wore the same thing as the groomsmen, but in a different color.  The GM actually matched the sashes on the BM dresses so I had the Best Man match the MOH’s sash 🙂 Here’s a pic!

You could always add a brooch to her to make her different too

It’s totally personal preference. Sometimes when the MOH is in a different color, it’s subtle. But yes, tell your FI it is done, lol. But you have so many options to choose from in making an MOH “stand out.”

My friend had her MOH in a deep purple dress while the rest of us were in black, I tought it was lovely. I kind of wish I put my MOH in a different color, but instead I gave her a bigger bouquet. Like PPs said its a personal preference.

In my wedding, all of my BM’s will be in different colors, my MOH and my COMOH are both going to be in shades of purple, my 1st MOH matching the purple on my gown, the other in a slightly lighter purple and my other 2 girls will be in a deep blue and a lighter blue (the color on my dress is eggplant purple) and the dresses will be alternating they will stand MOH (eggplant), Sister(mediterannian blue), COMOH (purple), Sister *JBM*(Lighter Blue) i know its horribly untraditional to have an MOH not right next to the bride, but I wanted her in purple, but didn’t want to have purple, purple, blue, blue.. just thought it would look weird… will find out on the 31st, doing MOH/BM/JBM picks!!
