I purchased my stamps today and the lady at the counter had asked me if my invitations were less than 5mm thick. I completely forgot to bring one of my invites to check, now I’m worried because I have twine tied around the invitation and rsvp card. If it doesn’t fit I have to spend another $200 on stamps. Has anyone ran into this problem? I think there’s a good chance of them fitting but won’t know til tomorrow.

kelowna2014: if it’s close, I’d pay extra for the postage. In my experince, as soon as you add a bow or knot you’re too thick – I ran in to this problem a few years ago with my Christmas cards. Gotta love that postage hike.

It’s the same in the US. Only up to a certain thickness. I know we’ll get hit with the new stamps (75 cents I think), but they have wedding cakes on them). We got a thin belly band, since the sample fold-over invitations were too thick. The pocketfold would be, too.
