I doubt many of you are looking to rent from Main Events Party Rental in Newark Ohio, but on the chance that someone is, or someone googles them for a review, I wanted to put this out there.

We used a different rental company for most of our rentals (Lasting Impressions) because Main Events doesn't rent dishes. However the other rental company didn't provide outdoor dance floors so we used Main Events for the dance floor, and two small 10x10 tents. They were easy to work with upfront and helpful about what was available. However, the dance floor we rented 'broke' along the seam between the tiles early on in the evening. They told us upfront how great this dance floor was for outdoor use and how it didn't require a flat surface because it was completely rigid. The location it was set up on (by them) was pretty flat too, so I'm not sure why it broke, but needless to say it was very disappointing. Someone from the venue tried to discreetly fix it with duct tape, but that was obviously not what we were hoping for.

I emailed Main Events about the issue a couple weeks ago, but didn't get a response until today, threatening to send the bill to collections, with no mention of the broken dance floor. I will pay the rest of the invoice because its not worth the hassle. I called them to see if they'd gotten my last email (telling them where to send the invoice) and Teri King was extremely rude to me on the phone. She told me it was my fault for not calling them to come fix the dance floor, and that the site coordinator should have known how to fix it. I kindly tried to explain that I did not have time to track down an emergency number and that it would have taken at least half an our or more for someone to show up to fix it, and the site coordinator was there and didn't volunteer to do that, but it wasn't his responsibility. Additionally, I didn't really want repair men fixing the dance floor in the center of the party. I said it shouldn't have happened in the first place, which she did not seem to agree with. I realize things go wrong, but a little sympathy and acknowledging that it was a problem that shouldn't have happened would have been nice. Also not insisting that we pay the full rental price for a product that broke would have been nice too. Based on my experience with them, I would not recommend them because of poor customer service, as well as a poor product.

Hope this helps someone looking for good rentals.
