I went there and it was really nice.  The adults only section was def worth it, IMO (private pool & bar, area with snacks, computers, etc).  Also highly recommend punta cana mike’s tours for anyone going to DR in general

We are likely going there, but haven’t booked yet, as we’re probably going to wait until closer to the date to get a really good deal from cheapcarribean.com.  We got the name of this resort from someone who HIGHLY recommended it.  They had a great time, and had great things to say about it.  We’re looking forward to it.

I was next door at the Majestic Colonial last April.  We wandered over to the Majestic Elegance to take a look around (they’re sister properties and share some activities/shops).  Both of the resorts are very well maintained – the landscaping is just gorgeous and really adds a lot to the experience.  I would imagine the food is pretty similar, and while it was very good for an AI, it’s not by any means gourmet.  But it’s tasty and there’s lots of it.

Be sure to order a Majestic as soon as you arrive, SO GOOD.  We brought our Bubba Kegs (http://www.shopbubba.com/p-50-bubba-52-oz-mug-classic-black.aspx) and it really cut down on trips to the bar – those things will keep drinks cold all day long, even on the beach.  The bartenders never had a problem filling them for us.

Can’t speak to the rooms on the Elegance side, but I’m sure they’re great.  On the Colonial side, they were a little humid and musty smelling as to be expected in the Caribbean, but kept very clean.  We put an extra couple dollars in the fridge every morning with a note requesting more beer (if you don’t request extra, you get 2 bottles), and they always obliged.

I didn’t go to any of the shows, but heard the Michael Jackson show was awesome.  We were so wiped out most nights that we went to bed early!

I found the reviews on TripAdvisor and other sites to be relatively accurate.  No resort is without its minor issues.  But if you’re pretty laid back like we are, you’ll have an amazing time!

ETA: Beware the mamajuana!  It’s delicious, but both times I’ve been to the DR, it has seriously bitten back. Laughing

We went there in 2010 and really liked it.  The room is gorgeous and immaculately clean.  The only small complaint we had was that the maids kept taking our soap and not replacing it with more, but after we complained, it didn’t happen again.

I’m going to Majestic Elgance in May for our honeymoon. It’s already booked!!! I went to punta cana back in May 2010 and stayed at Gran bahia Principe Esmeralda and I loved it!!!!! Since it’s our honeymoon and FI has never been there, i wanted to pick a different resort. Hopefully Majestic Elegance is just as nice or better than where I stayed previously, because I had a great time before.

We are going in 3 weeks.  We booked the elegance club through CheapCarribean (it was the best deal for airline and hotel.)  I can’t wait.  Will let you know how it goes when we return.

The Majestic Elegance is a great resort. We had a wedding there last week. The pictures are stunning. Please note that the sister property, the Majestic Colonial, had a huge fire early this week and lost one of their restaurants.

We just got back from our honeymoon yesterday and stayed at the Majestic Elegance.  We stayed in the Elegance Club Section (adults only) and overall everything was really pretty and very clean.  We both did get really bad food poisoning (stay away from the scrambled eggs..) and were out of commission for about 2 days but we had a decent time after we recovered. In general the food was pretty blah…and we discovered that room service is the way to go if you want freshly made food at breakfast, but be sure to call early…really busy in the AM!

Our room was in the furthest building from the main lobby so it was a long, hot walk everytime we had to get over there which we found annoying.  Also, be sure to brush up on key words in Spanish – we were surprised at how many staff members didn’t know any English at all. Be sure to have your guy bring long pants for dinner at the French and Italian Restaurants..and closed toed shoes.  They are surprisingly strict about that.  9 Doors (Japanese Restaurant) is worth checking out too.

Best part of the whole trip was the romantic dinner on the beach so be sure to tell them it’s your honeymoon and it will be part of your package (bring your wedding certificate if you didn’t book through a travel agent!) Elegance Club Pools were really nice and never really crowded which was a major plus!

We both agreed we wouldn’t want to go back, but everyone has a different experience – another couple we met down there on their honeymoon were having a blast, never got sick, and actually loved the food..haha!

Have fun, and remember your sunscreen ($30 bottle down there!) and stomach meds ($2/pill) juuuust in case!!

We just got back a couple weeks ago.  The farthest building is the building with the ocean views, so in my opinion the walk was worth the view from our room.  The resort was great and the Italian restaurant was the best.   They were the only restaurant with a la carte breakfast (and only for Elegance Club) so we went there most mornings, since I’m not a huge fan of buffet.  Definitely check out the shows, both the Michael Jackson and Circus shows were good.  As far as excursions, swimming with the dolphins was great and if you can visit Macao Beach, it was gorgous!
