Long story short, we have to get our DJ our music selection asap. I have Googled and searched several websites and cannot decide on songs for the following:
bridal party entrance
bride and groom entrance
Cake cutting (we were thinking The Sweetet Thing by U2)
garter removal / toss
bouquet toss ( I like Beyonce’s Single Ladies, but it seems so overdone, but cant think of anything else that I like)
We also need music for the ceremony – totally cluless in that area. I was thinking I really liked Canon in D for my entrance, but I dont know that I want it now to have that feel and I want the rest of the music to flow with it. HELP! What songs are YOU choosing / did you choose for your wedding?
Processional (bride and bridal party)
Unity candle/sand ceremony

Since I’m a dance teacher and work with music all the time, I am obsessed with the music aspect of my wedding. Since we’re pretty non traditional, I want the music to set a fun, even humorous, tone. Here’s what I have:
Bruno Mars – Marry You
Train – Marry Me
The Dixie Cups – Chapel of Love
Boys Like Girls ft. Taylor Swift – Two is Better than One
98 Degrees – I Do (Cherish You)
Jason Mraz – I Won’t Give Up
Processional: Mothers: Mama by Spice Girls, Guys: Suit and Tie by Justin Timberlake, Girls: Run the World (Girls) by Beyonce, Bride: I Wanna Grow Old With You by Adam Sandler.
Recessional: Good Life by OneRepublic.
Bridal Party Entrance: Still undecided by thinking maybe Sandstorm. It’s instrumental, but super energetic.
Bride/Groom Entrance: undecided.
Bouquet Toss: Single Ladies. (Don’t care if it’s over done. . . I’ve only seen it done at one wedding I’ve been to)
Garter Removal: Hot in Herre by Nelly
Garter Toss: 99 Problems by Jay Z
Cake Cutting: Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast
I think if you know what kind of tone you want to set for your wedding that helps. I hope this will at least give you some inspiration! Good luck!

@madteaparty: Very helpful, thank you! I realized I need to decide on tone or theme. I feel like I keep going back and fourth from Bach to Enya to Taylor Swift! LOL

@purple_sofia: You also have to keep in mind what your guests will like. We realize 99 problems may offend some people, but for the most part our family has the same sense of humor as us!

@purple_sofia: Have you looked into Vitamin String Quartet at all? We’re planning to use VSQ’s music for our entire ceremony (including pre-ceremony when people are getting seated and mingling) as well as for our cocktail hour.
If you’re not familiar with them, they cover pretty much every genre of music. My fiance and I had so much fun listening to a bunch of their songs one night and selecting songs we’d each like to have played. It sounds very elegant and classy, and it’s nice because you can choose a song you like regardless of the lyrics. For example, I plan to walk down the aisle to “Say Yes” by Elliott Smith. If you’re not familiar with the song, there are several curse words sprinkled throughout. I wouldn’t worry about offending anyone (and we’re not getting married in a church, so that’s not a concern), but I also don’t think it would seem very classy. (Not to mention the fact that the song itself [like many of Elliott Smith’s songs] is actually kind of bittersweet … Not really the type of lyrics most would prefer to walk down the aisle to.)
I know I’m not giving specific suggestions (mostly because I don’t know your taste in music at all), but VSQ is a great place to start.

@angelinthesnowxo: Thanks! I am not familiar but will check them out!

A HUGE amount of music I’m using for guests being seated is by VSQ – myself, Fiance and our friends are all alternative music fans, so we’ve chosen VSQ’s alternative music covers (intermingled with some others).
A snapshot of them include:
‘Today’ By Smashing Pumpkins
‘The Reason’ by Hoobastank
‘Away from the Sun’ by 3 Doors Down
‘Stolen’ By Dashboard Confessional
Along with other pieces like their cover of ‘Dreams’ by Fleetwood Mac. We figured this way guests who know the cover are interested and those who aren’t have classical music to appreciate!
I’m walking down the aisle to The Piano Guys’ ‘Just the Way You Are’, which is the softest, sweetest piece and just perfect for our intimate ceremony. Exit will be by the same artist but their cover of ‘A Thousand Years’, which still has the capacity to make me Happy-Weepy when I listen to it.
How important do you gals think it is to have music specifically for bouquet/garter? We were thinking of leaving it to the DJ since we haven’t actually decided WHEN in the night we want to do it! He seems a fun guy who knows how to play to his audience so I’m personally happy to trust him with it.

For my cake cutting song I’m doing Hit Me With Your Best Shot by Pat Benetar. It was between that and Eat It by Weird Al. 🙂 I wanted it to be humorous!

We aren’t doing the bouquet toss/garter removal/garter toss, because literally, we maybe have like 5 single people at the entire wedding, and 3 of them are boys under 18 LOL.
For cake cutting, we decided on Aerosmith’s Sweet Emotion. We are still working on entrance music for the reception and stuff, but we are meeting with our DJ tonight, so hopefully we will work that out!
If I get any really good suggestions other than the ones on the internet lists (because I’ve been looking too) I’ll post them here!

Hey everyone! So we met with our DJ last night, and he really was great. While he didn’t give any specific suggestions, we were able to narrow down some music, based on our personal music preferences and stuff 🙂
So, for example, we actually picked Red Hot Chili Pepper’s Love Rollercoaster to be introduced to LOL. We are going to do something similar for the bridal party (TBD).
He actually told us something that I wasn’t even aware of – he brings a mobile hot spot in case someone requests a song that he doesn’t have. He can then download it right then and there, or play it off Youtube or something. I thought that was pretty awesome 😀

@JLSQUSL29: Thats great! As for our music choices, we found it was easier to find a song that we liked and then find a place for it during the ceremony or reception. We FINALLY made our choices and emailed them to the DJ company. I feel like I am going to be second guessing my choices, but I sent the email so that it was a tleast done and only if I decide to make a change, I’ll contact them 🙂
