I’m doing fairly significant alterations to my dress. But, mine is a ballgown that I’m turning more fitted. I’m not sure it’s possible to go the other direction and turn a mermaid into something LESS fitted, because there isn’t fabric there. Do you have any pictures of you in the dress?

Thunderberry I have a ballgown as well that I am wanting to turn into a slight drop waist with additional lace. What are the cost of your alterations coming out to?

Can you buy a tulle overlay skirt to wear on top of your gown (to make for a ballgown/A-line apprearance) for the ceremony, and then take it off for the reception? This way you get 2 different bridal looks too 🙂

I made major changes to my dress, although it was planned before I decided to purchase it.  This is it’s progression:

thunderberry:  It’s definitely possible, I did.  There’s more fabric than you think and even on dresses where there isn’t, depending on the style, you can add it in such a way that it looks purposful.
