I started looking into onsite makeup artists today in the Pittsburgh area online and I about DIED! I never dreamed it would be that much! $150 just for me, plus the cost of gas, plus I have to have at least 3 people get their makeup done other than myself which is $85 per bridesmaid (which I already told them they could do their own) plus $75 per hour if it takes over two?! I want to know how much everyone paid or are going to pay, and if anyone knows a cheaper place to contact in the Tri-State area??

Yeah, that is expensive.  In LA I am paying for hair AND makeup - onsite 230 for me, 115 for each girl, no traveling costs.

Those prices for make-up alone and in Pittsburg, sound crazy.

I have no idea what I am going to do yet. I have time to practice, so I think that is what I am going to do. I don't generally wear a lot of makeup, so we will see. I think it is outrageous what they charge.

I am sorry, but I don't live near you, so I can't help you.

I only paid $35 for my make-up (plus a $10 tip because I loved the girl who did it), however, she did not travel to me - I went to her.  That can save you a ton of money.  I went to the Ulta in Monroeville and had a free trial and then a scheduled appointment with the main make-up artist there.  It was a great experience and saved me a lot of money!
    Good luck!

I am having my hair and makeup (airbrushed) done by the same person. Including the trial it is $290. Hair and makeup for bridesmaids is $99 (or $60 for just one of those two services).

I know it's a lot of money but after spending so much on everything else I want to make sure that I feel pretty and that my ladies do too.

there was no option for 50-100, so i voted on the first - I spent $120 for makeup and hair together, so I averaged it out to $60/ea =)

My makeup artist was $100, which I think is very reasonable for my area.

If I choose to have my bridesmaids' makeup done, they would be $50 each and then she would lower my fee to $75 instead of $100.

Oh, and she is travelling to me at no extra charge.  She lives in the area though.

I am also traveling to my makeup artist - I think for airbrushed makeup she is charging me $30, plus around $10 to apply fake eyelashes. I live in the midwest though, so things are a little cheaper.

I felt cheated this past weekend by my sisters hair and makeup artist in Philly. I am definitely not using them for my wedding. I paid $180 for hair and makeup and it literally took them about 15 minutes to do and looked like it. My hair fell out after about 30  minutes and my makeup looked really bad - they used tinted moisturizer in the wrong color which made me look oily and orange and this awful bright blue dark eyeshadow (I have blue eyes!). If you want to know who they were, PM me.

Most of my BM's and all 3 mothers are going to the salon in the hotel where my wedding will be and I am having a separate hair&makeup team come up to my suite to do me and my two MOH"s. The total will probably be around $140 for me and hopefully less for them.

I would love to be able to go somewhere to get it done, but the closest places are in the Robinson area, and that is about 45 minutes away from me. I'm worried that if I go there I will have to leave very early, and then by the time the ceremony or reception starts my makeup will look like crap.

Where are you specifically in pittsburgh? My MAU is my best friend and she does an amazing job. She's at Charise's in Bethel Park. I would also check out the local department stores and see if any of teh MUA at MAC, Clinique, Estee Lauder do make up the day of.

I do agree with the other bees. The costs are pretty high!

My FI works in Bethel Park and it is about 45 minutes away from me. I am in the northern panhandle of West Virginia. I'm very close to Burgettstown and that general area of PA. If you could maybe get me a price of what she would charge I would appreciate it.

I was having a REALLY hard time finding makeup artists in New Mexico, but I stumbled across Model Mayhem.com ... it's like a social networking site for models, photographers, and makeup artists. A lot of them have contact information or webpage links so you can get more information.

What does it mean if the makeup is air brushed?
