Fiance and I are getting legally married here in MI, but going to Toronto for 4 days and having some wedding photos taken there. I booked a photographer based on people on WB (Reinissance- fabulous so far!) and am now looking at MUA. I e-mailed someone who was mentioned in the “Vendor Goodness” thread and has a great portfolio. I am feeling kind of if-y on it since the assistant/booker is clearly not reading my previous e-mail and continues to ask the same question. The last e-mail gave me the price for hair and make-up after I told her twice I only need make up since I have very short hair. This is one of 3 things she keeps overlooking and I have a gut feeling about looking elsewhere; what my name is and the date- which were in 2 diff e-mails and the signature of every e-mail! AAHHHHH!
Any suggestions for make up artists in the area who could come to my hotel and make me look fabulous. I want to book ASAP since time is ticking for June dates.
Thanks in Advance!

@mrsbruff2b: Thanks for the recommendation. She has beautiful work, but her prices start at $300 according to her website. I don’t mind spending a good amount of money- but that is a bit too much

@aliciapdx: No problem but you do get what you pay for. Good luck in your search!

@mrsbruff2b: I am originally from NYC, but $300 still seems steep for make-up only. How much is the average estimate for MUA in Toronto?

I’m going with Satine Studio. I booked without a trial because she’s got such amazing reviews.
I’m paying $320 + $120 for the trial. Included in the $320 is hair and makeup though, so it’ll definitely go down if you’re only planning to do makeup.
Included in the price is:
- on location (2 hours)
- Complimentary rental of a hair accessory OR a necklace from Satine Studio Jewelry collection (No price limit)
- No extra charge for hair extension
· A security deposit is required for the hair extension and the jewelry
- False eyelashes with application
- Body foundation
- A makeup touch up kit
- A makeup & hair consultation will be discussed before the wedding OR during the trial
- Touch-up and trial service are additional charge.

Not sure if she still does weddings, but Livia is an incredible makeup artist. I’ve worked with her on fashion shoots and she currently lives in Toronto. http://www.aivilmakeup.com

I’m a little late replying… But if I had some pro experience under my belt (I’ve been out of the game for a few years trying to get back in) I’d have offered to do your makeup. But since it’s your wedding you’d probably be better off with a pro.
Not sure if you would consider, but I believe MAC will do makeup for $50.

I’d highly recommend Taylor Byers in Toronto – she’s awesome and super personable! Does a variety of makeup – commercial, wedding, etc. http://www.taylorbyersmakeup.com/?p=392

I clearly should have subscribed to this thread, didn’t realize there was more responses. I am going w/ Alyssa Caron at Bridezilla Beauty http://www.bridezillabeauty.com/ . She had really great reviews on 2 other wedding websites and here. She’s coming to the hotel room and doing my makeup it for roughly $150. She’s been really professional and attentive in e-mails. Guess I will find out if it was hit or miss in 6 days!
@Lyndzo: You are a pro! I considered MAC but didn’t want the poor hubby to be spending his vacation time at the mall watching me get makeup done, plus I had it done there years ago and I looked like a drag queen (well a drag queen was my MUA.) I really wanted someone to come to the hotel. Also we are taking his car, which is a manual and I can’t drive it! Felt like he was going to be holding my purse at the mall playing on his cell phone for an hour. Fingers X it worked out (& my Spanx hold up!)

I ended up doing my OWN makeup after a long series of disappointing trials but my cousin (married in Feb 2013) went with Mobile Makeovers for herself and her Bm’s and they all looked AMAZING and she was really happy with the service, I wish I had known about them when I got married.

Just wanted to say the MUA was fantastic. Here’s a picture un-touched (my skin is breaking out since I am preggo) in the hotel:
