So I have really white pale skin with blue/pink undertones, blonde hair and blue eyes (Think Dakota Fanning). My mum says I look dead- in the nicest way of course and people laugh when its summer and I have my arms out because they glow. I’ve learnt to embrace it but I havn’t yet found a foundation for skin as pale as mine and even though I use the ‘extra light’ ‘lightest ivory’ shades they always makes me look orange/ yellow. What brands have you pale girls found to do the best foundations for light skin?
On that note as well, wedding makeup?! Will the make-up artist have all the pale colours already? What sort of look did you go for? I tend to pick very natural looks but I want to stand out a little more at the weding. Photos would be great too if you have some 🙂

Have you tried sheer powders? Also what brands of makeup have you tried?

As someone who is dating a Portuguese man and their entire family tans – I’m ALWAYS made fun of because I’m so white. I hear ya however I’ve found the Arbonne’s makeup works really well with my skin and its light, looks completely smooth when applied, I love it! It’s more expensive but its a good product.

Bobbi Brown has great shades for fair skin!

I’m the same as you, except I have yellow undertones. So I have trouble with the ivories that make me look red. I’ve found that AVON sells some super-light foundations that I like. I’m almost back to the point where I can use them because my summer “tan” is fading. By “tan” I mean I don’t look deathly ill. lol. I feel like the drugstore ones tend to be too pink for me. So maybe you should try some of those? Like maybelline?
For the wedding – it’s very important to do a make up trial and have the MUA write down what she used.

Bobbi Brown has a great range of colors and they just came out with this amazing brightening compact. I also love Hourglass blushes–they have a range of tones that work well for pale complexions. Chanel also has this amazing vevelty, light-weight foundation that comes in pale shades (I can’t think of the name right now though). I would stay away from Nars since most of their undertones are yellow-based and it’s a real trial trying to find a matching shade for blue/pink undertones. Good luck!

In general, drug store makeup is going to have a smaller shade range than makeup sold at department stores or Sephora/Ulta. I know MAC has a white foundation (I think only the Face and Body foundation) that you can use to lighten any foundation.

Bobbi Brown! I used to use their lightest shade but because of my summer in the sun I’ve graduated to their second lightest! win!

I am extremely pale as well and had the same problems. Makeup didn’t come light enough for me lol
A few that worked for me was Annabell their lightest color works for me and has a nice light feeling
Also when I was in the US I bought some alamay smart shade the one that changes to your skin tone and that stuff is awesome. Light wieght and doesn’t come off during the day and really does blend nice to your skin tone.

Make up Forever and Bobby Brown offers a wide selection of colors. You might also consider using BB creams or tinted moisturizers as they will make you look dewy and alive, if that’s what you are going for. Also use bronzer and blush for additional glow. Dabbing a little blush to the apple of your cheeks will do the trick. Show off your eyes by choosing colors that will make them pop, maybe the shimmery ones, add tint to your lips and you’re good to go.

KateA17: Another note for makeup … I second Almay Smart Shade. Many others just are too dark or yellow for me.

You guys are so great! I’ve made a list of all your suggestions and im off shopping this weekend! Bobbi Brown sounds popular – alabastar sounds about right haha. The MAC white foundation is a really good suggestion too! I will try them all out and hopefully get a makeover done to see what they use. Thanks everyone!

Bare minerals also goes very light, at least in their mineral powder options. I havent tried the liquid foundation. I wear the lightest shades in most brands but with theirs I’m about two or three shades darker than the lightest so that might work for you.

i’m very fair skinned with pink undertones and I’ve found that Estee Lauder and MakeUp Forever have a good color selection. MAC tends to lean too yellow or it can oxidize and turn orangey. I used to use MAC before I realized that (I still love their ProLongwear concealer though!). Revlon Colorstay has a good shade range too. I’m pretty sure that Loreal True Match has a good range as well, I’ve just never tried it.
