Ok, so I mostly only use tinted moisturizer because I have oily dehydrated skin. When I smile, my skin feels stretched and I get all of these tiny lines on my cheeks. I rarely use foundation because no matter how thin a layer and no matter how much i try to moisturize, it just settles in my lines. Primer doesnt really help. My skin is smoother without any makeup, and the lines are more faint. Maybe the makeup dries out my skin too much? I’ve tried extra moisturizing to avoid the lines, but all that does is make the makeup oxidize on my face faster so that I look orange.
Anyway, I’m doing my engagment photoshoot next week, and I really want camera friendly makeup. I know the high quality cameras will just pick up on my lines, so I wanted to know if you ladies have the same problems I had. What kind of makeup makes your skin look flawless for the camera?
I’ve heard of Make Up Forever HD line, which theoretically has particles that prevent the camera from picking up on your fine lines. Has anyone used this? I know most girls swear by Mac. Is Mac camera friendly? Which is better for my engagement shoot? Any help would be great. Thanks ladies!

I used the Make Up Forever HD line for my wedding day 😀 and I used some other sort of yellow make up/powder under the eyes as well for my never-goes-away totally-just-genetics dark circles. It looked just as great when I got home late at night as it did when my mua put it on 14 hours earlier.

I’m not a huge fan of Mac, but I used MUF HD on my wedding day too, and I can’t recommend it enough, especially with the finishing powder. I loved the smooth look it gave me, so I’m assuming that it wouldn’t settle into fine lines.
Just to be sure, though, you should ask for samples and a trial! I’m not sure about Mac, but I know Sephora will do it for you!

@jo.lee: What she said! But I don’t know bananas about mac. I bought mine at Sephora too~ my mua worked there parttime and had me come in to get a spot test done. Full disclosure though, I don’t think I have any fine lines to begin with. More of the spotting/scarring.

I have very oily skin. I wash it only once a day, at ngiht. I know that may sound counter intutitive, but when I was washing morning and everning, I was druing out my skin, so it felt strecthed when I smile, but to compensate, was producing a crazy amount of oil. I also gave up harsh cleansers, like those with salycic acis and benzoyl peroxide and went to a gentle cleanser. I cannot tell you how much these changes improved my skin. I still break out some, btu I have less redness and my skin is never tight and does not form those false wrinkels you are talking about. I mpoisturize at night with Clinique moisture surge and in the morning after my shower with BodyShop seaweed day cream.
For makeup, I wear MAC studio tech cream foundation, whcih I apply with a brush. I wear a MAC cream blush and BE warmth for bronzer. I prime and set with Urban Decay All-Nighter.

MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation is great for my dry skin. My forehead can get flaky in cold weather and this hydrates it perfectly. It goes on really smoothly and I can’t even feel it on. I didn’t wear it for my wedding day, as I just got it about a week ago. I had airbrushed foundation and that photographed really well.

Hi there! What exact products (face wash toner e.t.c)
Are you using? I’m an Mua when I run across this problem I strongly suggest drink plenty of water no alcohol for at least a week before your photos or wedding day.
I also highly reccomend airbrush makeup, this will set on top of your skin and not fill in the lines
I hope this helps!

@Tabsummers: Thanks for the tips. I’ve been drinking about 2/3 a gallon of water each day for about 3 months, haha. I can’t drink any more water. I don’t drink alcohol that much either… not a drop since new years eve (when my fiance proposed, I started downing champagne like water, haha) I’ve been using dermalogica cleanser, toner, and moisturizer + the estee lauder night night repair stuff. Recently though, I replaced my dermalogica cleanser with an olay one for sensitive skin, and my moisturizer with my 1 month sample of la mer (which feels absolutely amazing and i think helps out a little, but I don’t think I can bring myself to shell out the money for it). I’m still using the estee lauder night repair cause my skin just looks really dull without it. What moisturizers would you recommend? I really like creme de la mer, but the price is just too much for me.
I recently bought the MUFE HD line and the lines do look less prominent and hopefully it won’t be too bad on camera. The shoot is next sunday, I’m so excited!!! =D
