@badabing88:  I think that goes for so many businesses. People don’t understand what proper follow-through is even if it is to tell you, “Thank you, but no thank you.” I would rather be told I was rejected than to be ignored/flaked on. You can’t win them all. However, in your case – you probably lucked out – I mean, would you have been stuck doing her 12 BMs make-up “for next to nothing” as well? It’s definitely a mixed blessing as you probably avoided an even more awkward situation.

@badabing88:  Yuck…I always get called last minute on a Saturday morning by a bride that couldnt’ get her shit together and has no other option but to throw herself on my mercy and hope to God that I’ll show and even though I’m half asleep and still have bed hair, turn her into some gorgeous bride and make her laugh the entire time…which I do, but if its last minute…there had better be champagne and bloody marys….I’m not a machine.

@Nona99:  Oh! You’re a bridal make-up artist as well? That’s awesome. I didn’t know that.

P.S. Kudos on the love of Bloody Marys. They are my signature drink, ha.

@badabing88:  $200 an hour….$250 if you’re asking me to pull a Hail Mary….I don’t NEED the money, this is something I enjoy doing, but you’re going to pay me for my time and materials for sure.

@MrsNewDay:  Oh yeah…I’ve done a lot of them, it started as a HOLY SHIT THE LADY ISN’T HERE!  Let’s call Nona!  It was an old friend…then I got this reputation for amazing old glamor hair that held all day and airbrush makeup that makes you look like some ethereal goddess descended from on high to take pity on this mere mortal of a man…plus I’m really funny…so you get a show for free!

@badabing88:  When are people going to figure out that the ladies at the counter, more often than not ONLY have experience with the products they sell, and are geared towards selling it…not making it stick?  I know there are exceptions to every rule, but those ladies are there to make money and move makeup…not make a woman look on the outside, as radaint and amazing as she is on the inside???

You can’t teach that in a three day annex at the mall….

@badabing88:  13 people including the bride…?  If that includes hair its impossible…seriously…I maxxed out on a group of 6 including the bride that wanted wet set old fashioned Rita Hayworth hair, false eyelashes all around and the ever hard to attain, “Glamorous Yet Natural” look for an outdoor afternoon wedding…I almost died….that whole mess had to start at like…5am, just to get the hair happening.

@badabing88:  That sort of beating around the bush makes me insane!

Reminds me of when I was working as a massage therapist, and people were afraid they’d hurt my feelings by requesting deeper or lighter pressure.

Seriously?  You’re the one paying me! I don’t want to waste both of our times.  Out with it!

LOL I’m also willing to bet that she’s going to call you, freaking out. I’ve had my makeup done at counters before (MAC and Clinique) and those ladies are awful. The best one was the dude who did my eye makeup at MAC; unfortunately, after that time, I’ve been ignored when I approach that counter. Good thing it’s not around here.
