I just recently dealt with this myself. The MUA I'm going with quoted us $80.00 per person, which is steep. Very, very steep. But she is reputably extremely good and regularly does work on models for magazines and actresses and such so I don't mind as much as if she were an amateur. Anyhoo, I originally let my party know that there would be a MUA on site and if they were interested I'd pay for half.
Then one of my BM's lost her job and the other decided to go back to school and it occurred to me that it wouldn't be right to pay for 2 of them and not all, so we scraped together the money in the budget, and that will be one of their gifts. I'll also be having their hair done, and giving them some a charm and a plain tote full of goodies for the big day (water, some fruit, etc).
I think it really depends on your area - I got quoted prices that I thought were very high (85-100), and it turns out that many hair and makeup artists were just really expensive in my area, especially if I want them to travel to me on the day of the wedding. Now, there definitely are people who do have cheaper rates, but keep in mind the vendors may book up pretty early. I talked to several people who were booked up 5-6 months out, which amazed me!
I chose to pay for my bridesmaids, but I don't think that's very common, and it's definitely not expected (unless you require your BMs to have their hair or makeup professionally done). I think they would be really happy if you decided to pay in some way, but it's absolutely not required.
$250 for bride hair + makeup, $150 for MOB/MOG/bridesmaids. Some quoted more plus "holiday fee" as my wedding's on Memorial Day. Some wouldn't travel to me as I don't have a wedding party, they didn't want to come out just for one person. Everything's crazy expensive out here.
$49 a piece for hair and $40 for makeup. It's the salon I get my hair done at all the time, they are awesome.
$300 for the bride's hair & makeup
$170 for clip on extensions
$95 for trial
$100 per person for BM hair & makeup
I have 5 BMs so my total is $1065 not including tip.
I just had my trial today. Make-up for me will be $80 (air-brush), for the BMs and MOB it will be $50 each (regular foundation). I am asking my girls about who would be interested in the getting these services, I unfortunately cannot offer them myself, I have 6 BMs and can't afford it this point. That's why I'm asking who is interested in it.
@verosara: i see you will have airbrushed make-up...how does this work exactly? what's the scoop? i have seen it advertised, and am interested but know nothing about it. is it quick? does it stay well?
I was quoted about 600-800 for 6-8 girls plus you and a mom and that included the high end makeup like chanel and mac AND she comes to you and would stay throughout the reception doing touchups, which is very important to me for pictures. airbrush from what ive heard is where they spray the foundation on your face and it gives you a flawless finish, supposedly stays on longer as well. it's also supposedly made for pictures and gives you high coverage.
Our makeup artist is coming to us which was a big plus, and we're paying a bit for that luxury.
Bridal makeup: $72
Everyone else makeup: $50 per person
We are also paying a little bit for their travel and parking costs, some extra for having a second artist come along, and it would be $100 if I want to do a trial run.
I'm paying for everyone's makeup to be done which includes myself, 2 moms, and 4 BMs. This will come to a total of $470 including the 2nd artist and travel fees. I'll add in the parking costs and tip later, plus the potential $100 trial, and I'm thinking it'll be about $650 all told. I find this relatively reasonable for downtown Boston and the comfort of not having to go anywhere to have our makeup done.

Hello there,
I'm wondering if some of you can chime in on some of the prices you've been quoted for potential wedding day makeup, and if applicable, your bridesmaids. If you're already married, what was the cost?
Also, I'd like to hear what are your plans as far as supplying a make-up artist on the wedding day for your bridal party. Did you pay for everyone or did you tell your bridesmaids there's an artist available if they wanted to pay to get their make-up done. I have seven girls, plus my mother so I'm trying to figure out the feasibility of paying for everyone. (I have a number of gifts I plan to give which include earrings for the day, but I didn't want all of my gifts to be wedding day related).
Any information you can supply, I'd appreciate. Thx.
