Ok, so I have a recipe I’m working with for coke cola cake and I’m trying to get something similar to my grandmother’s. I’m not having too much trouble on the cake part but I’m having a few issues with the icing/glaze. It calls to boil 1/2 cup butter, 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, and 1/2 cup coca cola. When the mixture boils, remove it from the heat and slowly stir 4 cups powdered sugar. Let it cool then pour it over the cake. (You’re also supposed to add about 1 cup chopped pecans but I skipped them because my parents can’t chew them)
The result is supposed to be a kind of glaze over the cake; it’s supposed to harden. When I did it, though, it was runny and never did harden, even the next day. I wondered if any bees could help me figure out how to get it to harden next time? More powdered sugar maybe? I don’t know.
