I’m a major DIYer, and for the past few of years I’ve been thinking about what I’d like to make to accessorize myself with on the big day. The biggest thing on my list these days is a wedding ring shawl, which is a shawl knit with such superfine cobweb weight yarn that can easily slide through a wedding ring in its entirety!

I’m not really sure making either of these is feasible time-wise, once I do get engaged – would feel weird to start them beforehand, (these each take over 3,000 yards of yarn! That’s over half a mile of fiber!) and who knows if either would go well with whatever dress I eventually pick, but I would love to make one just to show that I can and for a keepsake.
Engaged or not, what are some things that you plan to make or have fantasized about creating for your wedding day?

Oooh! I am making myself a bracelet that I saw on Pinterest. Very simple, just pearls, ribbon, and some thread:
I’m going to match the pearls to my grandma’s necklace that I’m borrowing and use pale pink ribbon.
I also DIYed my wedding shoes! I originally bought a pair to have dyed because my bridal salon was offereing $50 off any accessories, so they were only $25. They didn’t come out quite like I’d envisioned, and they looked awful with my dress. I figured DIYing them was the way to go, and if they didn’t turn out right, it would be less than $30 down the drain.
So, they started out like this (light grey/silver satin peep toes):
And ended up like this:

I made 2 hair pins for that “something blue”. This is the larger of the two but they are the same shape.

@vorpalette: Love the bracelet – I keep seeing those on Pinterest, too! Too bad the shoes don’t look good with your dress – they look so cute here.
One of my thoughts for shoes is red glitter, ala Wizard of OZ, but I’m not sure I’m that gutsy! Plus, I’m super pale and am more of a purple fan than red.
@Pand0ra: Beautiful hair pins! Where did you learn to make them?
