I am really loving the photos of the napkins that some of you have made.  I really want to make my own as well.  I am not someone who is really skilled at sewing but I am game.  Do any of you know of some tutorials available for simple, easy cloth napkins?  thanks guys!

napkins can be pretty simple. Just cut squares an inch bigger than you want, then fold each side over 1/4 inch, iron the folded edges to crease them well, fold them again, 1/4 inch, iron again, and sew a straight line along each side, holding the folded part in place where you folded it.

You may want to trim some of the fabric at the corner (unfold after ironing but before sewing so you can see the creases and only cut un-seen fabric) if they get bulky.

    :)

Do a few test ones first, because if you're not a confident sewer it may take you a few tries to get a nice straight line. But once you get it, you'll be running them very quickly.

Also, if you've never used a machine before, start at a corner, with the 'back' of the napkin facing up towards you. Very slowly sew 3-4 stitches, then switch your machine to go backward, and slowly sew backward over those 3-4 stitches, switch to forward again, and sew over the same place and keep going until the next corner. You can 'anchor' at each corner if you want, or you can rotate the fabric and keep going from the same line of stitching without breaking the thread (I find rotating the fabric a full 90 degrees to be easiest when the needle is down, through the fabric, so you can just lift the foot and pivot around it). :)

Good luck! Take a few pics and let us see how the process goes!
