Hi everyone, just feeling a bit sad and lonely and wondering if its common to build friendships from going to mothers group etc.. A friend of mine was new in Australia and found friendships through her pregnancy classes and mothers group.. Just wondering if this is common or likely as i dont currently have any friends of my own and im hoping when we start a family this may be a way for me to connect and build friendships.?
Whats your experience?

I haven’t experienced this myself since I’m not a mother yet, but I do know that meeting friends this way is common and likely.
When there are a bunch of people going to one place to learn or do the same thing, connections are bound to be made, and it’s the same way with pregnancy and mommy groups. That’s actually one of the main reasons many women attend those classes and groups: to meet other mommies and future mommies.

It’s certainly a way of meeting people and making friends. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t so when the time comes make sure you join other groups too.
