You don't have to do the rings for the legal ceremony - some people never do rings at all! Wait and do them when you really want to!
I agree - save the rings for your "real" ceremony. They are definitely not a requirement for a civil ceremony.
Doxie just had a legal ceremony, but I don't know if they did the ring exchange or not. Also, moonbeam had a ceremony already too. Again, not sure about the rings.
we were legal back in april and our wedding isn't until NEXT june!!! i have my engagement ring - but we have not even gone shopping for our wedding bands yet. no need to - since we were only "legal" and no one really knows so we didn't want to raise suspicion.
Mr. Pudding and I had our civil ceremony in Sept. 2008, and we're not having the real wedding until next July! We haven't even looked at bands yet. I wear my engagment ring, but Mr. P doesn't wear anything on his ring figure. We don't consider ourselves married, so why would we want to wear them. The rings aren't a legal requirement (neither are vows for that matter). The only thing that is needed is the signature of the couple and their witnesses!
I'd save the rings until you have the "real" (not necessarily the legal) wedding. I think in your case it sounds like the courthouse wedding is just a formality, and the DW is the start of your real marriage, so might as well start wearing rings then!
i'd wait for the ceremony as well. make that day a little more special, you know?

We're making it legal at the courthouse tomorrow! But our "real" wedding is in 3 weeks in puerto rico. And I suddenly realized, what do we do about the rings? I see the puerto rico wedding as the actual wedding and the legal part at the courthouse is mostly for convenience. I don't want to officially wear our rings until after the puerto rico ceremony, but do we have to have rings for the legal ceremony? Can we just skip that part? LOL! Anyone else dealt with this? Thanks!
