- Wedding: October 2014 - The Loft Reception Center
My almost fiance and I have been together about 2 and a half years. Last April he had to move to Colorado for a job and since then we have been long distance. Recently we have been talking about getting married, and have decided to go ring shopping over Thanksgiving!
I know he’s never been really comfortable with public displays of affection or large gatherings, but I was surprised at his reaction when I started talking abou the wedding. He first said that I could do whatever I wanted, but then started talking about eloping.
I guess I just don’t understand what’s going on. I’m so excited and I’m also really close to my family and more recently his. I want them to be there for our commitment and I have to admit that I love parties and celebrating. This is a once in a lifetime event and I want to celebrate it and enjoy our wedding with the people we love. I plan to make it as casual and fun as possible, nothing formal, uptight or overdone.
His parents are divorced, but are on good terms and I’ll be paying for most of the wedding so I know it’s not all just about the money. Is it normal for a guy to be this uncomfortable about the thought of a wedding? Or am I just overreacting? Could the long distance relationship be getting in the way, or am I doing something wrong?
