I know it's not in your area, but the place that has the most bridal laces in the country is a place called mary jo's http://maryjos.com
It's this huge place in Gastonia, NC and you can order online, and they will send you swatches, too--I highly recommend seeing if you like anything there, too! you can search by category. I'm actually driving there in a couple of weeks to pick up some fabric, but i've been there before and their lace section is phenomenal!
I wish the Fabric District in Downtown Boston didn't dry up! I have to order all my fabrics from NY and go there regularly but most of my sources dont sell to the public.
Start at Paron on 40th, then to go Elegant next door, stay on 7th and go up and down 39th and 38th Streets and you'll find what you need. B&J on 7th is great, and Bazar Silks on 39th are great too. Mood is crazy expensive so don't bother. Good Luck!

So... I decided that I will be making my dress for a few reasons ... it's special :) and that I will learn to sew really well :) and that one day maybe I can pass it down if I have a neice or daugher!
I'm in the process of designing my dress, and will be heading to NYC garment district to shop for fabrics!! (silk duchess satin and alencon laces!!!)
Does anyone know of any places in the area that carry nice silks and alencon aces?
I did check out Osgood's in West Springfield, but no duchess satins :/
If none, then any suggestions for fabric stores in NYC? There is a huge selection ... I got 10 on my list to see!
