So a few months ago, I bought my wedding shoes and used my Nordstrom card. About a month later I got $40 in Fashion awards. What did I us it for?
Today, I ordered my wedding perfume. Normally priced at 65, I got it for 25!
Pottery Barn? They send $25 dollar coupons from time to time, most of my reception votives, (I love mercury glass) is from there. Just got another one in the mail today!
My visa and Amex? I have two $50 gift cards for the Ritz Carlton, almost ready for my third!
Hilton Honor points? Going out of town for work in October, I will have enough points to take care of the wedding night hotel!!!
Look at how you spend money for everyday things! If you have reward programs, make them work for you!!!!!
Anyone else doing this?

@MissSangria: While it wasn’t wedding related, DH and I recently took a vacation on reward points. Flights and 5 nights were paid for in the Bahamas!

We are! FI has a gazillion Hilton Honors points. Just enough to cover our overwater bungalow in BORA BORA. Please and thank you!!!

that is awesome ladies! My next round of points after the wedding will go to our Honeymoon in Spain! We’re going about a year after the wedding! I need to build more vacation time from my agency!

I am super into this! My corporate and personal American Express cards funnel into the same account, and between the two I earn enough points for about $500 worth of gift cards per year. Our wedding’s not for almost two years, so I am hoping that by that time I’ll have enough for $2000 worth of luxury hotel gift cards. My Virgin America and Hilton HHonors points accounts aren’t too shabby either.

I’m saving up my supermarket points to buy our new honeymoon wardrobe & suitcase. I’m also saving points on a loyalty card to get my wedding perfume. We are asking for department store gift cards as Christmas gifts so we can get James’ suit & groomsmen waistcoats.

@MissSangria: My father travels a LOT for business. A few years ago when my friends bought me a two week pass to this film festival in Palm Springs, dad put me up at The Parker- a hotel I’d been wanting to visit FOREVER. I doubt he’ll be contributing to my wedding budget, but I sure hope he’ll throw some points my way for the honeymoon!

I’m charging everything directly to our Southwest Credit card and United Cards and then paying them off asap online via my bank account to rack up those miles!
My mom and dad built our house did the same method and racked up TONS of miles for international flights, they still have miles left over!
This is SMART! +1 OP

@MissSangria: We saved $1,000.00 by using our Southwest Rapid Rewards to buy our honeymoon flights. We didn’t even realize we had enough until the last minute. It was quite the blessing!

Our cards all have CASH rewards and though we travel for work, we get put up wherever is cheap and convenient, so it’s hard to accrue enough points for anything meaningful.
We did get a lot of gift cards after he charged my ring, though (and paid it off, but why not take free money?). We used those to get most of our gifts for the bridal party and a few other things. 🙂

- Wedding: April 2013 - Rhode Island
I wish I would have looked at our credit card rewards program before planning the honeymoon. It turns out we could have spent only $250 each on plane tickets to Europe! Instead we spent about $1500. 🙁 Ugh.

I am so doing this too! The hotel we are having our wedding at has a ton of fancy properties in Europe. We are staying in several major cities, in very fancy hotels, for free!
We are using their hotel credit card to pay for the wedding. Asthou can imagine, that is a huge amount of points, with no expense above and beyond (paying it of every month)
My next goal is to use points to get a first class ticket on the flights. That would be so awesome.
