Between his full time work, my buisness starting up, my part time job, and our combined efforts to hold up the fort at the old homestead, it seems that my fiance and I have lost a bit of our youthful appeal. It feels like leeches are consistently taking energy from us both, and at the end of the night – we fall into bed completely exhausted.
Tonight, we’re going to do something different. We promised each other a stress free date night.
I bought all the things to make BIG burgers, and fries. I got our favorite movie candy and popcorn, and rented Get Him To The Greek from Redbox. I surprised him with a card, and he surprised me with a pumpkin to carve! We’re just going to have a night together – no phones, no planning, no work, just us. Next up is to catch him up on Harry Potter for the premiere in November in IMax! 😀
My question is: How do you all make time for yourselves? Each other?

I know what you mean about not having time! My husband and I both work full time, go to graduate school, and my husband travels at least one week out of every month for work. It’s hard to get a moment to relax! Haven’t quite figured it all out yet.

Fiance and I were just talking about this – we’ve had a string of four weddings, bachelor parties, our engagement photos, and a family visit within the past few months. Weekends have been far from relaxing. We both work full-time, and have a house to take care of. We’re exhausted!
I think what you did last night is best – set up a night (or three) specifically dedicated to relaxing, just the two of you. Fiance and I call these our “comfy nights,” and we always put on sweatpants, cook up a new or favorite recipe, have a bottle or two of wine, and plop down on the couch for a movie. They are my absolute favorite!!

My DH and I only see each other from Friday night through Sunday morning. Usually we will go out on Saturday and shop then go to eat dinner. If there is an event (fair, parade, etc.) we will go to that. Yesterday we just stayed at his place and watched tv and relaxed. BTW, how was “Get Him To The Greek”? We may rent that for next Friday.

@Miss Taco Night: I absolutely agree. We had a wonderful night. We’ll have to do it more often! 🙂
SM – Get Him to the Greek was funny. Not as good as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but I love Jonah Hill, and Russell Brand. I loved the music. It was ridiculous and awesome.
