    Hello,

I need some advice on customizing my wedding dress for next fall. I just purchased this dress (Ella 5468) and I want to make some alterations to the back of it to make it unique, fun, and interesting. I would love to have some sort of low or open back (maybe keyhole?), to remove the corset and put in a zipper, and to maybe add some sort of straps depending on the style of the back.

My biggest concern is keeping the fit the same. I love how the corset keeps the dress fitted and tight, but I bet there are ways to change it and still have the fit.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Oh goodness...that dress is beautiful, I would NOT take out the corset back, most brides try to replace their zipper with a lace up, and you already have it! Some ideas...when I was in a bridal store they clipped different feathery flowers on the skirt of the dress, like where the bodice ends and the skirt begins. That can make a big difference...or take off some train, or put sparkles on it...

Like this flower, but on the dress

Unless the dress already closes all the way in the back, I don't even think you could add a zipper.  But I wouldn't want to do that anyway.

Don't add a zipper.  The corset is much more beautiful and flexible when it comes to those last few weeks.

I suppose if you really wanted to show more back you could take the backing off the corset and just have the ribbon, allowing your skin to show through.  But honestly, I think the dress is fine as is!
