What about your fiance reading a poem for her or a special mini-slideshow while a meaningful song plays?
How about a short version of a song? Like a 30 second blurb of the best part? Because you know what, I bet she would LOVE to have that moment. TRUST me. Ask her what she wants. And you know what, she'll have your FH there to hold her while she dances.
can she stand and sway? that's enough of a dance, i think. it'll probably be special to her to have that.
if not, i remember one of the bees danced around her dad's walker, or something like that. you could have her on a chair on the dance floor, and he can sit next to her and they can hold hands and sway in time, or he can stand, etc.
i echo babagrlshell - make sure that an improvised dance won't embarass her.
I think staceyb is referring to this post by Mrs. Corn - it's really lovely.

I can't think of non-dancing options off the top of my head, but your post made me think of Mrs. Corn. Also, how would you feel about asking your FMIL about what she'd feel most comfortable and happy with?
What about having her give a toast. Or having your FI give a short toast and highlight his parents.
i suggested singing to him, he has a great voice, but he declined. i don't think he could handle the audience, lol. this is great, though, i am new to weddingbee, and i'm loving the responses!! thank you everyone!
yup, gorgesviola, that's what i was referring to - thanks for finding it for me!! :)

my fiancee's mother had a stroke a few years ago and even though her therapy was very successful, she would have a pretty tough time attempting to dance with her son. we are looking for an alternative way to recognize how important she is to him/us on this day. his brother just got married yesterday, and he had all the brother's approach her at the table with a single rose and then he (the groom) gave her a dozen roses while "Mama" by Boyz II Men played. We are looking for something original like that. Please help!! Thank you!!
