I am considering Carrie Underwood’s Mama’s Song for the song that my soloist would sing during our ceremony. What do you bee’s think. Would you be put off with this song? Do you think it is perhaps too personal beween a mother and daughter and should be more about the bride and groom? If you were the MIL, would you be offended by this song. Let me know.
Here is a link to the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpFW4Yhy08k

I know the song well, and I just don’t think it’s appropriate for the occasion. It almost sounds like you’re trying to convince her that he’s a good person. I think it’s just a bit heavy. Also, I would be concerned that its too ‘now’. Can you think of something a tad bit lighter?

I’m a MOB so I’ll speak up. First, I LOVE that song! However, it is very personal and it makes me cry. My daughter and I are very close though.
I love the song but think the song you’re looking for should be something more towards just the bride/groom.
Perhaps if you love it you could do a mother/daughter dance. Those are becoming more popular these days.

I agree with PP. I think it might be a little too much for the ceremony. That said I LOVE the song… I just don’t think it’s appropriate for the ceremony. But maybe you can play it at the rehearsal dinner in the background or before the ceremony as background music?

@MasqueradeMom: That is actually a great idea! I think I’m going to let my mom pick a mother/daughter dance song and surprise me the day of the wedding… As a MOB do you think that is a good idea? (sorry I don’t mean to threadjack!!)

@o0olibelulao0o: It’s quite popular lately and I think it’s a great idea! My daughter actually had the idea and she chose the song. We go on spur of the moment road trips to the beach (10 hours away I might add) and our song is totally unique to us that you really have to “know us” to get. We’re doing “Heads Carolina, Tails California”. She refuses to play a song that will make her cry she says…lol…you’re mom would be very appreciate I’m sure!
