Did anyone else see this?  What do you think?

While definitely bizarre, like the article says, this is more acceptable in Japanese geek subcultures. So what's weird to us seems a-okay to them.

i think it's strange... can't believe it's acceptable in Japan...

    LOL. Undecided

This story is funny...but at the same time, more than a little sickening. How can you ever care about some computer data more than a real person? This guy's life is tragic if he gets more joy out of interactions with a game than with humans in reality.

The comparison they draw between the US and Japan is also completely irrevelant, because, obviously, if someone tried to marry their car or dog, they'd still be called a whacko.

Hmmm.... It's quite bizarre, but like a comment on the article said, if it lasts he won't be contributing to the gene pool.....

There's a thing, and I can't remember for the life of me what it's called, object-something, wherein you actually fall in love with inanimate objects.  There's a woman in the US that fell in love with a roller coaster (yes, you read that right), and got "married" to it.

Odd, but a sad commentary about how isolated that poor guy must feel from real people. Maybe he does have that object fixation problem where he falls in love with objects, but this is less an object then a set of pixels, so not sure if that counts.

Crazy. I think its funny how they actaully say the Japanese GEEK subculture! but really?! Its not real. She doesn't exist! They say in the US its ok for us to love our dogs and cars, etc, but at least those things are real! And we don't love them to the point of marrying them! I can't believe it, the world is crazy these days! Wink

Well, at least he didn't marry a real woman and drive her insane looking at other women on the internet! I'm thankful he's only hurting himself with his ridiculous fixation. "Go sell crazy somewhere else! We're all stocked up here!" Laughing

Some guys might call her the perfect woman.  I mean he has to deal with none of this:

    shoe shopping (could be expensive)

    clothes shopping (ditto)

    trips

    dates

    food

    erectile dysfunction

Just to name a few...and he gets to decorate his own place!  My question is this..how are they gonna do a baby of a human and a virtual woman?  Technology ain't gotten that far yet..lol!
