Mr. LK got a Claddagh ring when we got engaged. He really wanted to wear a symbol of our commitment, his Mom's side of the family is Irish through and through, and it just felt right. He wears it every day, and can't wait to wear his wedding band in just a few weeks. 
My FI bought his wedding band about 4 months after we got engaged and has been wearing it on his left ring finger since April! Nothing wrong with jumping the gun I guess ;)
I got my FI a titanium ring set with a small diamond and he loves it. It has barely left his finger since I gave it to him and he's been really into picking his wedding ring too.
I think that is so awesome! I love that.. "Per Sempre Tua" :) I think that is very sweet that he actually wears it, & I know that is pitiful to say, but some men just don't think they need to wear rings! 
My fiance never directly asked for a ring, but he strongly implied that he would wear one if it was given to him. And since I knew the proposal was coming (we discussed the general timeframe, but not an exact date), I picked out a ring for him several months before he proposed. So I actually had his ring before he had mine and I just carried it around in my purse for a month or two before he got around to asking me!
He's a nerdy guy and was a math major in college, so I picked out a mobius ring for him, which is cool because it's basically a mathematical expression of infinity/eternity. He wears it all the time and on his left hand too, even though it is frequently assumed by others to be a wedding band. He doesn't mind the assumption though, because he is just as taken now as he will be when we are married!
I got my FH a mangagement ring..he wears it ALL THE TIME. He loves it so much that it's making it hard to find a wedding band for him lol. It's engraved with our initials and the day we became a couple.
FI wears an engagement ring--it was a natural decision on my part to give him one since in Norway, men and women both start wearing their wedding rings from the moment they get engaged! Peanut's Norwegian so I knew he would like to wear a ring when we got engaged, and he doesn't take it off (well, except for the same reasons I take mine off--showering, using chemicals, doing gross stuff like cutting up a chicken).
They don't seem to make it anymore, but it's a squared silver ring from Tiffany & Co...just subtly squared, not sharp corners or anything. It reads round until you look at it. He loves it, and he LOVED opening that blue box!
@Hydra: Aww...that's sweet.
I told my fiance I would get him something for our engagement since I got a ring. He hasn't decided what he wants yet. I may just surprise him with something. I don't think he'd wear a ring before we get married. Maybe a watch or something.

I recently bought my FI a nice tungsten ring and got it engraved on the inner part in Italian "Per Sempre Tua" (Forever Yours). I knew he had wanted a ring just to wear (not necessarily mangagement) but he wears it ALL the time which surprised me. His two married brothers don't even wear their wedding bands as much as my FI does. The best part is, everyone thinks it cost over $200 but I only spent $30 @ jewelryoverstock.com. It's technically a wedding band but whatever, he wears his ring on the right hand. My FI told me that it was the best gift he's ever been given. There wasn't a special holiday so I called it his "unbirthday present" (I'm an Alice fan).
Have any other ladies given their SO a "mangagement" ring??
