- Wedding: August 2014
Ok, here’s a tough request for fellow NYC bees. Our reception is next summer at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, which we originally picked in part because of it’s ceremony option, but now after further thought we’d like to do our ceremony some place else. (Want to have time in between to do photos, the start time is 7:30pm regardless & don’t want to push the reception back too late–and interfere with the after party, etc…)
I’ve always dreamed of getting married outside in a garden and/or near water (I’ve always said a waterfall, but a fountain or just water in general will do). One of the city’s parks would be great except you can’t have chairs, music, etc… and the max is 100 & our guest count will be 175-200.
My next thought was rooftop gardens, bars, etc… but many can’t accomodate our size or won’t rent the space for just a ceremony. (For example, 620 Loft & Garden is gorgeous & perfect except can only seat 96, 230 Fifth is nice looking but wouldn’t even discuss it.)
Any suggestions for an outdoor venue that can accomodate 175-200 people for a seated venue in Manhattan? We’d be open to Brooklyn too, but our parents, etc… suggest we don’t have people schlepping all over the 5 boroughs, etc…
The ceremony would be in the afternoon in August.
