I’m totally having the same exact issue! i am not doing hanging candles though, i’m having votives all over the tables. But with the base, i found these gorgeous vintage (totally the theme of my wedding) planters that are like 3"x5" big (well small to me!) and I can’t figure how to keep them from like falling over. I was debating sand or concrete even. I’m planning on covering whatever (be it sand or whatever) in the diamond crystal confetti.

I hope someone else can help us with this cause it’s driving me insane….

Could you use LED votives instead? I ordered the hanging votives as well, but I still have to order the manzanita. I hadn’t even thought of the possibility of the branches catching fire or burning!

HouseofJ, could you use river rocks? Those are very inexpensive, and could be spray painted any color. That’s what I’m using, and you can even order them in bulk through Dollar Tree!

I didn’t even think of those! But whatever I use I plan on covering it up with the diamond confetti.

I just helped my future daughter in law make a dozen 36″ manzanita branch centerpieces by putting them in redi-mix concrete (fence post concrete).  We put them in clear plastic food containers because concrete expands and ceramic containers will crack.  She is going to put them inside beautiful vintage 12″ tall urns that we bought at a flea market and back fill with sand for stability. Everyone of the plastic containers cracked, so I’m so glad we didn’t put the branches directly into the urns!  We bought glass hanging votives and will be using the LED votive candles so we don’t have to worry about fire or them blowing out at her beach tent reception. We ordered preserved white orchids to hot glue in the branches, but may send them back because they look more like dried paper to me than real orchids.  We’re still debating on whether to hang crystals from the branches or put fresh blue and white hydrangeas around the top of the urns.  We left the branches the natural brown color which will go with her latte and greyblue colors.  So far we have about $50 into each arrangement which isn’t bad for a 48″ tall centerpiece.

Can I ask where you guys got the hanging votives?  I have been looking everywhere but they seem expensive.  Thanks!
