I just posted on this topic a few minutes ago!  I helped my future daughter in law make 12 centerpieces with manzanita branches last week.  I bought branches that were advertised as 30-40″ (most were closer to 30″) and we put them in concrete redi-mix in plastic containers.  Do NOT put them directly into ceramic containers, as the concrete or plaster of paris will crack the container. We will then put the finished branches inside 12″ urns that we bought at a flea market.  They will be between 40-48″ tall.  We did have to end up getting some shorter 24″ branches to help fill out each arrangement as the taller branches looked somewhat flat. If you have tall ceilings, you want at least a 36″ tall arrangement.  Hope this helps!
